Fusion Lab
FusionLab is a laboratory for innovation through creative learning processes and collaboration. We are an interdisciplinary ecosystem of academia, business and society that produces solutions to social and business challenges. We create academic programmes and do research for creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship skills. We build a community where students, academia, organizations and society collaborate to create a positive impact on society and business.
Fusion Point
Fusion Point’ is an academic initiative that encourages applied research and new teaching methodologies by solving societal challenges. It is a pioneering project led by Esade-Fusion Lab, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), and the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED). As the collective identity of this collaboration, Fusion Point represents the shared commitment of the three institutions to foster multidisciplinary, impactful innovation. It involves interdisciplinary teams of students, researchers, and lecturers, who combine knowledge and experience in the service of society.

How we do it
Multidisciplinary teamwork
Management and law (Esade), engineering (UPC) and design (IED) students collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
Supported by multi-disciplinary faculty and coaching community.
Design thinking, Systems change and Futures thinking
We use methodologies like Design Thinking and Systems Change to provide a human centric and systemic approach to problem solving.
Experimental
The learning methodology is experimental which means that students experiment with new techniques and iterate towards a solution.
Challenge driven
We use Challenge Based learning methodology where students solve complex challenges from companies, NGOs or the public sector.

Students develop a reflective and systems-oriented mindset that helps them understand complexity, connect perspectives, and navigate uncertainty while learning from experience and collaboration.
