Gender Equality Plan

Esade is fully committed to gender equality as an institution, given that diversity is a core value within our Code of Conduct. This commitment led the school to adopt its first Gender Equality Plan in 2017 and to participate in numerous initiatives designed to promote equal opportunities over the last decade.

In 2020, Esade also assumed leadership of the EQUAL4EUROPE research project financed by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 program. Within this context, Esade approved its second Gender Equality Plan after negotiating with the works councils in Barcelona and Madrid. This new plan will remain in force for  4 years (2022-2026).

The new plan was drafted after carefully examining the current situation at Esade and includes various measures to achieve gender equality in the following four areas:

  • Promote gender equality in recruitment, hiring, retention and professional development processes
  • Promote gender equality in decision-making bodies and processes, introducing internal policies and practices aimed at achieving a more balanced presence between men and women
  • Incorporate the gender perspective in research, innovation and teaching efforts
  • Raise awareness about gender equality and inappropriate sexual conduct

For this, Esade has created the Gender Equality and Diversity Officer position and implemented in-house policies and measures to increase awareness about inappropriate behavior.
