We’re looking for bold students. Students who dare to choose differently. Who go beyond what’s expected and take on challenges outside the mainstream. Are you one of them? Choose a SUD Internship. It’s not the obvious path: it’s the one that sets you apart.

The SUD Internship is a 12-week internship program. You’ll work on impact consulting or legal pro bono projects in countries around the world, mainly in the Global South, where you can apply your knowledge and make a positive impact on the ground. This is not volunteering; these are real professional internships that will count toward ECTS credits on your academic record and add a distinctive life experience to your resume.

Whatever path you pursue, whether in finance, consulting, law, global governance, or entrepreneurship, you will bring something recruiters can’t ignore: real experience in demanding international settings, sound judgment, and perspective.

The first step is simple: enroll in the Global Justice in Action elective

This course opens the door to a distinctive track, designed for students who are curious, open-minded, and driven to have an impact. The first step doesn’t lock you in; it gives you options. Additionally, if Social Track is a requirement for your degree, by taking the Global Justice in Action course will obtain 3 ECTS credits for the Social Track.

Dual professional experience

You can do two internships: a SUD Internship in the summer, plus another internship during the academic year (optional).

Additional training

Before you travel, you’ll take two electives that give you a broader view of the world and prepare you to lead your consulting project.

Work on purpose-driven projects

From building a marketing plan to creating a business plan for a new service or analyzing the impact of an educational project or legally defending the rights of vulnerable groups. Projects connect directly to what you study.

Impact in the real world

Your work won’t stay on paper; it will make a real difference in the community where your project takes place.

A distinctive track

A SUD Internship doesn’t take you off track from your career goals; it strengthens your profile. Our students go on to work at companies like Meta, World Bank, JP Morgan, Cuatrecasas and McKinsey, or launch their own startups. Ask them.

A ‘culture add’ profile

More and more leading organizations are changing how they hire. They’re not just looking for people who fit in; they want people who bring new perspectives and add value, known as culture add, instead of standard profiles, known as culture fit.

Practical information

How to participate in a SUD Internship?

1. Sign up for the Global Justice in Action elective.
2. Take your second elective: Human Rights in Action (Law School), Social Management in Action (Business School), or Social Challenges Management in Action (Global Governance).
3. Apply for an SUD Internship and go through the selection process.
4. If you’re selected, in March you’ll find out your project, destination, and who you’ll be paired with.
5. Join the pre-SUD Weekend (April) with the rest of the selected students for training and community-building.
6. Travel to your destination and complete your internship (12 weeks in the summer of your 3rd or 4th year, depending on your degree).

Destinations

Projects are assigned based on your degree and include countries such as Guatemala, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Paraguay, the Philippines, Gambia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, or even Spain.

Cost

Travel, meals, and accommodation are not included in your tuition. Think of it as an investment in a unique experience that will have a personal and professional impact on you, while also contributing to the community where your project takes place. Ask us about approximate budgets, additional options, and, if you’re a scholarship student through the Esade Scholarship Program, let’s talk.

ECTS credits

The program counts as your mandatory internship (Practicum) and includes ECTS credits on your academic record. By completing the preparatory course Global Justice in Action, you’ll also earn 3 ECTS credits toward your Social Track.
