Ángel Sáenz de Cenzano (LinkedIn): “The jobs of the future must be based on skills, flexibility and trust”
“The jobs of the future must be based on skills, flexibility and trust,” said Ángel Sáenz de Cenzano, managing director of LinkedIn Spain & Portugal, at the latest Desayunos Esade, organized by Esade Alumni in conjunction with CriteriaCaixa. In this respect, Sáenz de Cenzano mentioned the changes arising from the pandemic, with employees now center stage and demanding more flexibility. “We need to understand our employees, involve them in decisions about what’s happening in the company and, at different times, make both in-office and remote workers feel they belong”, he added.
During his talk, he highlighted that changes in the job market have given companies and people greater opportunities. The shift to this new panorama is no easy matter and is complicated by the resistance to cultural change. Sáenz de Cenzano referred to another key factor, i.e., offices, which have failed to adapt to the demands of today’s employees. “It’s important to increase the diversity of workplaces. The aim is not to get employees into the office more but to achieve appropriate team time,” he added. In addition, it’s essential to create and boost skills such as creativity, co-operation, adaptation, persuasion and emotional intelligence.
Commitment to content creators
At the present time, LinkedIn has more than 16 million members in Spain and more than 900 million around the globe. As Sáenz de Cenzano explained, the strategic priority of this professional networking platform in Spain “is to conclude work on the editorial approach and the people who create content, in order to include and be more relevant to all industries and levels of professionals.” On the other hand, the company’s aim is to help professionals showcase their skills and help companies pinpoint them. “Our biggest challenge is classifying skills to enable people to broaden their range of abilities, and companies to increase their range of talent,” and LinkedIn is working on this in order to seek, pinpoint and recruit according to capabilities.
Networking, personal branding and the importance of belonging are all part of the LinkedIn hallmark, creating a knowledge market. “Our vision and mission have never changed. The aim is to create economic opportunities by connecting professionals and making them productive and successful,” concluded Sáenz de Cenzano.
The managing director of LinkedIn Spain & Portugal was accompanied in this session of Desayunos Esade by Mario Lara, director of Esade Madrid.
