Esade bolsters commitment to talent with €4.6m of scholarships
Esade remains increasingly committed to equal opportunities, diversity and talent, and has earmarked €4.6m for scholarships to study at Esade this academic year, i.e. 15% more than last year’s scholarship budget and 7% more student recipients. In all, 307 students with outstanding academic results but insufficient financial resources have been able to study at Esade thanks to scholarships covering up to 100% of tuition fees, board and lodgings.
Xavier Mendoza, Esade director general, highlighted that “financial constraints must not be an obstacle to quality education, hence these scholarships are crucial for mitigating inequality, furthering social inclusion and returning brilliant talent to society in the future. But this scholarship scheme benefits not only these young people but the entire educational community. A classroom of students from different backgrounds and origins enriches the educational experience and helps students learn more whilst preparing them better for future challenges”.
All this is possible thanks to the donors determined to do their utmost to make people aware of society’s structural problems. The Esade Donation Report for the 2021-2022 academic year highlights the importance of the solidarity embodied in the donations from private-sector companies, individuals and Esade’s own funds, despite an economic landscape characterized by inflation, climbing energy and food prices, which have affected the purchasing power of the general population. To be precise, 88% of donations come from organizations, companies and foundations, and 12% from alumni and the Esade Community.
Research resources have doubled
The contributions made each year by private-sector organizations and individual donors have significantly enhanced Esade’s academic research. Last year’s donations totaled €2.4m, an increase over the previous year, and were used to fund several lines of research with a view to furthering academic knowledge, contributing to public debate and having a positive impact on society, thereby helping transfer knowledge and fostering quality research of great value to society.
