Executive Committee

The ESADE Institute for Social Innovation’s Executive Committee comprises a team of people that guide the institute on key issues such as defining its objectives and strategies and allocating resources, as well as assuming decision-making responsibilities regarding project development.


Ignasi Martí

Ignasi is a Professor in the ESADE Department of Social Sciences and Director of the Institute for Social Innovation. He has been a Visiting Professor at ESADE since 2016. Previously, he served as Professor and Director of the Department of Strategy and Organisation at Emlyon Business School (France) where he also led the OCE Research Center. Ignasi holds undergraduate degrees in Philosophy and Economics (Universidad de Barcelona), a PhD (IESE Business School) and the Habilitation à la Directions des Recherches (HDR) from Université Paris-Dauphine. He also served as a Research Fellow at Saïd Business School (University of Oxford).

He has published numerous articles in prestigious international journals, including Academy of Management Journal, Organization Studies, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Business Ethics and Journal of Management Inquiry.


Sonia Navarro

Sonia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Electronic Engineering (Northumbria University, United Kingdom) and completed the ESADE FT MBA (2001), FGONG (2007) and LIS (2009) programmes. After completing the MBA, she worked in London for a US startup in the telecommunications industry as Director of the European Marketing Department. In September 2006, she joined ESADE Alumni to launch the Alumni Giving Back programme through which ESADE alumni provide pro bono consulting services for NGOs. In 2008, Sonia joined the ESADE Institute for Social Innovation where she currently serves as Associate Director and Co-Director of educational programmes for NGOs.


David Murillo

He is a Professor in the ESADE Department of Social Sciences (Universitat Ramon Llull). He holds undergraduate degrees in Humanities and Management and a PhD in Sociology. His teaching and research focus on business ethics, geopolitics and globalisation. He has also carried out consulting services in the CSR field for the Government of Catalonia, the Spanish Ministry of Industry, the ILO, the UNDP and UNIDO (United Nations) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) as well as for a large number of important companies. David has served or continues to serve as a Visiting Professor at numerous universities, including Copenhagen Business School (Denmark), Frankfurt School of Finance & Management (Germany), Universidad del Pacífico (Peru) and Sogang Business School (Korea). Recent noteworthy publications include: “From Walmart to Al Qaeda. An interdisciplinary approach to globalization” (2015) and other articles appearing in journals such as Technological Forecasting & Social Change, Organization, Journal of Business Ethics and Business Ethics: A European Review.


Sira Abenoza

She is a Professor in the ESADE Department of Social Sciences. She holds undergraduate degrees in Philosophy (UB) and International Business (UPF), a Master’s in Citizenship and Human Rights (UB) and a PhD in Philosophy (UB). Sira’s teaching and research focus on Socratic dialogue, business ethics, CSR and philosophy applied to management. She has worked as a CSR consultant for PwC, working with clients such as CaixaBank, Abertis and Gas Natural. Sira is also the founder of the Institute for Socratic Dialogue, promoting Socratic dialogue as a means to strengthen democracy and as a platform to include disadvantaged and silenced groups of people.

Collaborating faculty

We work closely with influential ESADE faculty with ample experience in numerous fields, including: Corporate Social Responsibility; responsible leadership; business, the environment and climate change; social entrepreneurship; third-sector institution management and administration; and innovation models for social and environmental challenges, amongst others.

Researchers

Research is fundamental for the IIS. That is why we count on qualified and experienced researchers in different fields. Their mission is to undertake highly relevant research in the academic and business realms and in areas such as social entrepreneurship, civil society, public administration, NGOs and other not-for-profits.

PhD candidates

Several PhD candidates participate in knowledge creation at ESADE’s Institute for Social Innovation, providing and sharing their knowledge of their respective areas of specialisation.
