The latest FT ranking of Masters in Management, which is published today, puts ESADE’s MSc in International Management (MIM) in the world’s top ten, placing it ninth. Among other things, this high ranking was awarded for: (a) the global mobility of the programme’s students (rated 3rd best in the world); (b) graduates' subsequent career development (ranked 8th); (c) graduates' high satisfaction with the programme (10th place).

The FT also highlights the strong presence of international students in the ESADE programme. In this academic year, MIM students were drawn from every corner of the world: Europe (76.9%), Asia (9.2%), Latin America (5.4%), The United States and Canada (2.8%), The Middle East (2.3%) and Africa (0.8%). In addition to this cultural diversity, students’ experience and fields of knowledge are also very wide-ranging. Here, 63% of students are drawn from the Management field, 15.38% from Engineering, 10%, from Economics, 6.92% from the Humanities, and 2.31% from the Sciences.

“The Master in Science (MSc) format came into being [in Spain] as a result of the Bologna Process and ESADE’s MIM programme is one such qualification and is in ever greater worldwide demand", noted Josep Franch, Dean of ESADE Business School. "Indeed, demand is now so strong that the main US universities have begun teaching such programmes. MSc programmes are specifically designed for recent university graduates who had little professional experience. The MSc gives them first-rate training, allowing them to specialise in their chosen fields. They are in high demand from companies, which seek talented youngsters with bags of career potential in complex, multi-lingual, multi-cultural settings", said Franch.

ESADE, a decade in the MSc field

ESADE Business & Law School launched its first MSc programmes — the MSc in International Management (MIM) and the MSc in Marketing — in 2007, with just 60 students. Now, almost a decade later, the success of this format is shown by the numbers. There are now 540 students enrolled in the School’s MScs, 20% up on the figure just a year ago. ESADE’s MSc offerings have broadened over the decade. 2009 saw the launch of the MSc in Finance — ranked sixth worldwide by the FT. The MSc in Innovation and Entrepreneurship was launched in 2010, and the MSc in Global Strategic Management was launched this academic year. The first classes in the latest programme began in the United States last week and it is taught in alliance with the University of Virginia (US) and Lingnan College (China). This format ensures the programme’s students acquire knowledge and skills in the global management field in Europe, America, and Asia throughout the academic year.
