Sharad Sapra, Director of the UNICEF Innovation Centre, visits ESADE
Sharad Sapra, director of the Nairobi-based UNICEF Innovation Centre, visited ESADE and met Ignasi Carreras, Director of the Institute for Social Innovation. During the meeting, Dr. Sapra showed interest in ESADE’s major projects on social innovation and both directors expressed their willingness to work together.
Sapra described some of the projects on which his team is working –focused on using technology and innovation to help solve the major problems facing children and young people. He explained how UNICEF identifies projects that may have an impact, and then provides technical support for start-up or expansion.
These projects include Ureport in which UNICEF integrates mobile phone technology and SMS in its programmes; or the Internet of Good Things, which offers public interest information for free, even on low-end devices.
