Aeternum (design and production of leather briefcases), Commodum (lingerie for people with reduced mobility), Doctor Accesible (consulting firm specialised in online medical services), La casa de tus sueños (hostel managed by people with intellectual disabilities), Nut - Nut (nutrition education for children) and Reforcer (freeriding ski clothes) are the six business ideas selected to receive 30,000 euros in the latest edition of Aula de Emprendedores, an initiative of the Prevent Foundation and ESADE. The closing session of this edition of the programme was held at the ESADE campus in Madrid this week.

Aula de Emprendedores, a programme for entrepreneurs with disabilities, has held one previous edition in Madrid as well as three in Barcelona. The programme combines theoretical classes taught by faculty from ESADE Business & Law School and transversal workshops offered by leading organisations and business executives. The participating executives also act as tutors and mentors by contributing experience and knowledge to the various business ideas presented at the end of the programme.

The various candidates to receive monetary grants were evaluated by a committee consisting of company representatives as well as members of the ESADE and Prevent Foundation teams. The candidates presented their business plans to the committee in the form of an elevator pitch. This year, the selected projects will enjoy the support of companies and organisations such as Áreas, Cuatrecasas, FCC, Ferrero, Jesús Serra Foundation (Catalana Occidente Group), Once Foundation, King, Madrid Emprende, Spanish Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, OTP, PrevenControl, Secot, Serunion and WiZink.

3rd edition in Madrid

The closing session and grant ceremony for Aula de Emprendedores featured the participation of Montse More, Director General of the Prevent Foundation; José María de la Villa, Director of Institutional Relations at the ESADE Foundation; and Jesús Celada, Deputy Director General for Participation and Supervised Entities at the Spanish Directorate General for Disability Support Policies. All three guest speakers stressed the importance of fostering and promoting talent, in particular by providing support for the entrepreneurs who face the greatest difficulties.

The Prevent Foundation and ESADE announced that the third edition of Aula de Emprendedores will be held in Madrid starting in September 2017.
