The Latin American Council of Management Schools (CLADEA), the region’s largest network of business schools, has announced that it will hold its next annual assembly on ESADE’s Barcelona campus from 3rd to 5th September 2014. The event is the most prominent annual gathering for the deans and executives of Latin America’s business schools.

CLADEA has chosen "Leading a Global World: Latin America and Europe, New Connections" as the slogan of this year’s assembly. "This is no casual get-together," declared ESADE Business School Dean Alfons Sauquet, before adding that CLADEA’s venue decision "confirms that Latin American business schools want to participate in global leadership and are focusing on developing stronger ties to Europe, and Spain in particular."

After holding its most recent assemblies in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Lima (Peru) and Cartagena (Colombia), CLADEA will once again hold its annual gathering in a major European city. More than 400 scholars are expected to attend the three-day event. The programme will include a plenary session on geopolitical topics featuring ESADEgeo President Javier Solana and a panel discussion on the rise of multilatina companies featuring Javier Santiso, Associate Professor at ESADE.

CLADEA currently has 202 member institutions in 30 countries across Latin America, North America and Europe. According to CLADEA President Roberto Solano, "This year’s assembly will offer an ideal setting for understanding the process of globalisation, with the shifting weight of the world’s various regions, at a time when strategic alliances and cooperation among peers is ever more important. ESADE Barcelona 2014 will be a new milestone in the international relations strategy of Latin American business schools, and we certainly intend to take advantage of it."

Dr. Sauquet declared: "The chance to hold the CLADEA annual assembly on our campus is aligned with our desire to strengthen ties with Latin America through our plan for expansion in that region, which envisions a presence in key cities, more alliances with prestigious institutions, and the launch of new programmes for a growing market."
