Kick-off for ESADE's new master's degree, organised in partnership with the University of Virginia (USA) and Lingnan (University) College (China)
ESADE is kicking off the 2016-2017 academic year in the United States, with a new master’s programme designed to train the executives of the future. The programme – the result of an alliance between ESADE Business School, the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce, and Sun Yat-Sen University’s Lingnan College in China – begins on the campus of the University of Virginia.
The new MSc in Global Strategic Management targets recent college graduates and it aims to teach participants to manage the complexities of the global business environment from the North American, European and Asian perspectives. The programme will allow students to experience the cultural immersion of living on three different continents over the course of an academic year and being surrounded by students from different cultures and professional fields.
The first edition of the programme has 60 students of 14 different nationalities, spanning a wide range of backgrounds (37% European, 34% American and 25% Asian). The average age in the group is 23 years. This combination of different cultures and visions opens up a world of great opportunities for all participants and is consistent with “one of the most in-demand profiles at new multinational companies, according to Prof. Josep Franch, Dean of ESADE Business School.
The Financial Times ranks ESADE's MSc in International Management among the world's top ten
The latest FT ranking of Masters in Management, published last month, puts ESADE’s MSc in International Management (MIM) in the world’s top ten, placing it ninth. Among other things, this high ranking was awarded for: (a) the global mobility of the programme’s students (rated 3rd best in the world); (b) graduates' subsequent career development (ranked 8th); (c) graduates' high satisfaction with the programme (10th place).
The FT also highlights the strong presence of international students in the ESADE programme. In this academic year, MIM students were drawn from every corner of the world: Europe (76.9%), Asia (9.2%), Latin America (5.4%), The United States and Canada (2.8%), The Middle East (2.3%) and Africa (0.8%). In addition to this cultural diversity, students’ experience and fields of knowledge are also very wide-ranging. Here, 63% of students are drawn from the Management field, 15.38% from Engineering, 10%, from Economics, 6.92% from the Humanities, and 2.31% from the Sciences.
ESADE Business & Law School launched its first MSc programmes in 2007, with just 60 students. Now, almost a decade later, the success of this format is shown by the numbers. There are now 540 students enrolled in the School’s MScs, 22% up on the figure just a year ago.
