Aspen Institute España and ESADE Business and Law School jointly hosted a seminar entitled "The State of the European Union" on 7th and 8th March at ESADECREAPOLIS. The purpose of the seminar was to encourage debate within civil society about the European Union and the various possible models of Europe. It also provided an opportunity for reflection and dialogue on border-related topics as well as analysis of the issues within Spain’s current economic, political and social context.

The seminar brought together approximately 40 experts and prominent figures with a range of profiles and sensibilities. The programme centred around two panel discussions: "The New European Economic Government" and "Politics, Institutions, Identity and Culture in the European Union".

Joschka Fischer, former Foreign Minister and Vice Chancellor of Germany, participated in the seminar as a featured speaker.
