According to the annual ranking of pre-experience Masters in Finance published today by the Financial Times, ESADE’s Bologna-compatible finance programme has held onto its worldwide #2 ranking – outranked only by HEC Paris – and consolidated its status as the top programme in Spain.

ESADE’s Master in Finance targets young people looking to boost their careers in finance. The Financial Times ranked the programme #1 worldwide in the categories of international mobility and aims achieved. The programme was also ranked #4 in student satisfaction with the school’s career services and the tools provided to help students meet their expectations. In addition, thanks to the success of the programme’s alumni, the ESADE Master in Finance was ranked #5 worldwide in career progress, #6 in international experience and #8 in salary increase.

ESADE’s Master in Finance was included in the Financial Times ranking for the first time in 2013 and has remained in the global top 5 since its debut (#5 in 2013 and #2 in 2014). Josep Franch, Dean of ESADE Business School, commented: “This showing demonstrates that our Master in Finance offers a first-rate educational experience. Not only are our students highly employable as soon as they graduate, they also have very promising long-term career prospects. Companies in the financial sector recognise the demanding, international nature of our Master, and they value our students’ skills and capacity for critical analysis. We have once again confirmed our strong commitment to adapting to market needs by training students in the skills they need to develop a successful career.”

#1 in international mobility

Among the elements of ESADE’s Master in Finance valued most highly by the Financial Times were graduates’ international career prospects and students’ satisfaction with their learning experience and with their attainment of the programme’s aims. One factor that sets the programme apart is the wide range of nationalities represented in the classroom. The students in this year’s Master in Finance hail from 28 different countries.

Seventy-nine percent of the students in ESADE’s Master in Finance are international, representing countries from every corner of the world, including China, Germany, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Poland, Saudi Arabia and South Africa. This diversity enriches students’ knowledge of other cultures as well as their ability to adapt to different environments. Sixty-seven percent of the programme’s graduates are recruited by foreign companies.

Career progress among the most highly valued factors

The Financial Times ranking of Bologna-compatible master’s degree programmes analyses the career progress made by alumni over the first three years after graduation, the internationalisation of the programmes, and the schools in general. The ranking takes into account the participants’ salary before and after completing the programme, their mobility and international experience, the return on their investment in the programme, the school’s career services, the diversity of the student body and faculty, and the number of faculty who hold doctoral degrees.

More than 90% of students in ESADE’s Master of Finance find employment within three months of graduating, and they tend to be hired by internationally renowned companies in the financial industry, such as Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Bank of America, PARIBAS, JP Morgan, Deloitte, McKinsey, Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

This edition of the Masters in Finance ranking corresponds to the current academic year and recent pre-experience graduates. This year, the number of schools included in the ranking was increased from 45 to 50. Although a majority (76%) of the schools are European, 16% are American, 6% are Asian and 2% are Latin American.
