ESADE works to make its campuses more sustainable
Figures for the 2013-2014 academic year show that staff, faculty and students on all of ESADE’s campuses have considerably reduced their consumption of electricity, water and paper. These results show that the ESADE community has become more environmentally aware, leading to a more sustainable form of coexistence on the school’s campuses.
On the Pedralbes, Sant Cugat and Madrid campuses, ESADE’s sustainability policies have increased awareness about a global problem that affects us all: the impact of our actions on the Earth and the conservation of the ecosystem. The General Services and SR-E teams were responsible for translating these values into action.
Thanks to a series of campaigns to decrease energy consumption, encourage recycling, reduce environmental impact, and raise awareness among the community, the environmental impact of ESADE’s buildings has gradually decreased over the past five years. The results for the last academic year are telling: consumption of electricity, water and paper fell by 6.55%, 17.85% and 32%, respectively.
Many of ESADE’s students, faculty, staff and visitors will recall initiatives such as the "Best Practices" campaign, which encouraged measures such as using the stairs to stay in shape, printing documents only when necessary, reusing paper, and turning off computers and lights when leaving a room. These minor details for each individual have made a big difference for the institution as a whole.
