Esade increases scholarships in recognition of talent, excellence and diversity in the classroom
Esade is determined to provide even more support for talent and diversity in the classroom by ensuring access to first-rate, international education for all young people so that every outstanding student wishing to study at Esade can do so regardless of their income. Esade has therefore announced that they intend to provide 1,000 scholarships for talented young people in economic need. More than 300 scholarships will be provided for the next academic year, enabling young people from different classes of society to study at Esade and increase the great contribution that social and economic diversity in the classroom can make to the educational experience.
For Esade, ensuring this opportunity is an urgent priority. The Covid-19 crisis makes it necessary to give everyone an opportunity to develop their talent. There can be no social or economic barriers to opportunities to attract talent.
To this end, a variety of scholarships and awards are available to young people throughout Spain to enable them to study a degree at Esade. "First-rate education is crucial for progress,” said Koldo Echebarria, director general of Esade, “but access to it is severely curtailed by geographic limitations and family income. In this scenario, universities are now, more than ever, responsible for pinpointing talent wherever it might be and giving it access to our internationally acclaimed university setting, regardless of their financial circumstances.”
In the 2018-19 academic year, €3.2 million were dedicated to this purpose, funded by donations from alumni, students, companies and foundations and contributions by Esade. Scholarships were awarded to 65% of applicants.
These scholarships cover all the years in a course, providing the student’s academic performance and financial circumstances remain unchanged, and cover between 25% and 100% of the tuition fees of degrees in Business Administration (BBA), Law (GED), or Global Governance & Legal Order (BGG); joint majors in Law and Business Administration (GBD), or Law and Global Governance, Economic and Legal Order (GDL); Masters of Science in Management (MSc), in International Management, Business Analytics, Finance, Global Strategic Management, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, or in Marketing Management; Full Time Master in Business Administration (MBA) or University Master in Law (MUA).
This portfolio of programmes offers a diverse, international education on the Esade campuses in Barcelona and Sant Cugat, frequented by more than 126 nationalities, and on the campuses of the world’s most prestigious universities thanks to partnerships and exchanges between Esade and 198 international academic institutions.
For this reason, Esade also offers other scholarships, grants and awards for talented individuals to cover travel, accommodation and living costs on their campuses throughout the year and during periods abroad, study tours, and giving-back activities such as those carried out by Esade’s SUD.
Commitment to diverse, responsible talent
Classroom diversity is an asset in the educational experience. During the different ventures that encourage it, during the next academic year, Esade will start a guidance programme featuring a variety of co-curricular, on- and off-campus activities such as outdoors events, cultural visits, tutorials and meetings with professors. These activities will help first-year students adapt to the university setting and get to know their classmates from a more personal viewpoint. This will advance their academic success and personal growth, and transform them into socially engaged professionals.
Talent scholarships are also a trampoline to first-rate international employment, thanks to on-going contact between students and global enterprise via their professors and highly prestigious executives in their sector, meetings with managers and headhunters in multinationals, and business challenges bringing students into contact with new partnership mechanisms based on challenges in innovation.
Furthermore, thanks to this commitment to talent, Esade offers all young Spaniards a unique educational experience based on a proprietary teaching model based on two core fields of action: innovation and technology.
