ESADE increases its scholarship fund by 37% and allocates 1.6 million euros to support talent
ESADE remains convinced that talent is the best way to address future challenges. The school has allocated €1.6 million – a 37% increase over the previous year – for its Talent Scholarships, the centrepiece of the ESADE Scholarship Programme.
At a scholarship ceremony held this week, ESADE recognised all those who contributed to the ESADE Challenge for Talent, a fundraising campaign aimed at making dreams a reality for talented young people. The list of donors included collaborating companies, students, alumni (in particular those who made significant contributions through the 1,000 x 1,000 ESADE initiative), clubs, chapters and various graduating classes that created collective scholarships (Lic&MBA ‘73, Lic&MBA ‘74, Lic&MBA ‘81, Lic&MBA ‘88 and BBA ‘13).
As a result of these efforts, scholarships have been awarded this year to more than 200 students in ESADE’s various programmes, including the Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA), the Master in Legal Practice, the MSc programmes, the specialised master’s programmes, and the MBA. This figure represents a 31% increase over the number of scholarships awarded last year.
At the ceremony, ESADE Director General Eugenia Bieto observed: "Neither economic status nor the economic crisis should be a barrier to getting a high-quality education. These scholarships are a tool for giving future brilliant talents back to society."
Opportunities for talented students
With these Talent Scholarships, ESADE aims to level the playing field for talented young students with limited economic resources and a strong academic background.
Last year, ESADE launched the ESADE Challenge for Talent, a fundraising initiative that invites students, faculty, alumni and companies to get involved in providing opportunities for talented students. Through this campaign, ESADE hopes to increase its scholarship fund by €1 million over the next four years.
During the 2012-2013 academic year, this initiative raised €436,070 in private donations (up from €354,332 the previous year). These contributions account for 26% of the €1.6 million currently invested in the Scholarship Programme.
Students helping other students
ESADE graduates are playing a significant role in this challenge to reward excellence. The school has sought out the involvement and economic support of its highest-profile alumni.
More than 400 former ESADE students have joined the project by making economic contributions that help other students to continue their studies. This spirit of commitment is exemplified by the many former scholarship students who have recently become donors through the Scholarship Programme.
Top academic performance is rewarded
ESADE also offers a wide range of awards and prizes to recognise its most outstanding students, which currently hail from 26 different countries. These include the Award for Academic excellence, which covers 100% of tuition and is granted to students with a university entrance mark of at least 9.5/10, and the Award for Academic Merit, a €2,500 prize for incoming students with a university entrance mark of at least 9/10.
In the 2012-2015 academic year, 39% of ESADE’s MBA students received some sort of award. Through these various forms of recognition, ESADE rewards top academic performance and professional experience, placing special emphasis on international outlook, team management and contributions to business development.
