ESADE offers a PhD degree for students seeking academic careers in management and specialising fields of study consonant with ESADE research lines. The programme provides rigorous training in research skills and methodology, enabling our graduates to become leaders in management research and education in their respective fields. Faculty members and students work closely together in order to facilitate the publication of their work in leading journals, and thus enhancing students' opportunities in the competitive international market for academic staff.
On average, 10 students a year are admitted. The number of doctoral places available in each department varies with the number of doctoral thesis successfully defended in the previous year.
The organised training and research activities leading to the title of Doctor is called a Doctoral Programme or PhD Programme. It is a Full Time programme and consists of two parts: the first part corresponds to the Master of Research (MRes) and the second part is a supervised research period (3 or 4 years). It is necessary to have completed a structured period of training (MRes) and research to obtain a PhD.

Participants' procedence: Participants admitted must have an interest in research in addition to an excellent academic transcript. The programme is open to graduates in any discipline who aim to study the main trends in Management Sciences and research methodologies from a theoretical perspective. Candidates with no previous training in management studies will be asked to enroll on extra courses in specific fields of management before gaining their diploma. Candidates must have sound methodological training. No previous professional experience is required.
