ESADE and the Jesuit Society
  • The Jesuit Society has been very involved in the constitution and development of ESADE from its beginnings in 1956. ESADE is a clear example of the close collaboration of the Jesuits and key representatives of corporate society: entrepreneurs, lawyers and other professionals.

Currently, ESADE's titular governing body is a private foundation whose board is composed of Jesuits and members of lay society. A significant number of patrons are ESADE alumni.

The nomination of the ESADE General Director falls to the Jesuits, whose involvement, apart from inspiring Christian values, lies in a long tradition of individual education with an emphasis on the creation of leaders for the good of society and the improvement of social welfare.

The concept of Christian humanism plays a pivotal role in ESADE's humanistic tenets. The development of humane and spiritual values, as well as a commitment to justice, is essential. This approach combines well with Jesuit philosophy and enables individuals of diverse belief systems to share in and identify with ESADE's values.

ESADE is a member of the International Association of Jesuit Business Schools and the World Association of Jesuit Law Schools and forms a part of UNIJES, a federation of universities and institutions of higher learning run by the Jesuits in Spain.
