Barcelona-Sant Cugat
  • ESADE, conscious of its eventual need for larger, improved premises, has initiated the construction of a new university campus in Barcelona using university-affiliated scientific parks located in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona).

The new ESADE Creapolis Campus design has been inspired by such parks as St. Johns Park in Cambridge, England and is expected to be operational for the 2007-2008 academic year.

The campus, located on the outskirts of Sant Cugat, will incorporate elements to make it unlike any other academic campus in Spain and Europe. A major differentiating characteristic of the campus, for example, will be the juxtaposition of both academic and business facilities on the institution's premises.

  • The project consists 19,800 m2 dedicated to the university classrooms and administrative buildings, with an additional 26,800 m2, dedicated to housing companies and businesses. In total, 46,600 m2 is expected to be developed on the Creapolis Campus.

Creapolis, a park for the next generation
A new ESADE initiative is being completed in Sant Cugat: a futuristic and creative park -- the evolution of the technological park of the 1970s -- combined with the scientific park of the 1990s.

  • This space, known as Creapolis, will house small businesses in their initial phases of development. As well, larger businesses attracted and stimulated by the creative and knowledge-filled environment typical of an academic and university world, can also move part of their operations to the site.

ESADE's undergraduate program in Business Administration and Management will be the first to move to the new premises. Thereafter, other undergraduate programs, the Masters programs within the European Space for Higher Education, and the PhD program in Management Sciences will follow.

During the first phase, approximately 1,200 students will pursue their studies at the new location. In the academic year 2011-2012, when the new higher education ordinance is fully in place, this number will increase to the maximum of 1,600.
