Our Difference is Our Strength: Developing and Enhancing Europe’s Cross-Cultural Competences
Objetctive: Cross-cultural competence, which is the ability to successfully deal with cultural differences, is essential for the effective functioning of individuals and societies in today’s culturally diverse world. Without these competences, cultural differences are seen as problematic and the creative potential of cultural diversity is lost. However, research on cultural competence has not yet reached a stage as to offer us a clear picture on how to best develop and enhance these competences. This Action aims at creating an authoritative multidisciplinary network of social scientists from across Europe, which will define the nature of Cross-Cultural Competences and analyse its consequences and benefits for individuals, organisations and societies alike. Building on extant and emerging scientific research, the Action will create a platform for implementing training and education programs in schools, universities and workplaces to help turn Europe’s cultural diversity into its best social asset.
