Two ESADE students among worldwide top scorers on Bloomberg Aptitude Test
Two ESADE students, Garrett Hynson and Reece Daniel, were among the worldwide top scorers on the Bloomberg Aptitude Test (BAT), administered by the New York-based Bloomberg Institute. The students’ names were published in the BAT Hall of Fame in October.
Garrett Hynson (USA) was ranked in the global top 3 with a score of 710 out of 800 (99th percentile). A graduate of the University of Virginia, Garrett took the BAT at a session organised by ESADE Business School on 24th October. He will graduate from ESADE with an MSc in Finance in 2014. Garrett was also ranked in the top 5 in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
Reece Daniel (South Africa) had one of the top 5 BAT results in the EMEA region, with a score of 660 out of 800 (99th percentile). A graduate of the University of Cape Town, Reece is a student in the CEMS MIM at ESADE. He took the BAT on 24th October at ESADE Business School. Like Garrett, Reece will be graduating from ESADE in 2014.
Both students opted to take the BAT at ESADE because they consider it much more relevant than the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
The Bloomberg Institute is the educational division of the financial media company Bloomberg L.P. In 2011, the Bloomberg Institute launched the Bloomberg Aptitude Test (BAT), an online examination used around the world to assess students’ capacity to work in the financial industry. The Bloomberg Institute Talent Search helps put students who take the BAT in contact with the financial sector’s top companies.
The Talent Search is a database, accessible through the Bloomberg Terminal, that many companies in the financial industry use to select candidates for international internships or employment opportunities. The Talent Search helps companies identify students who have scored highly on the relevant portions of the BAT.
The BAT assesses students in a variety of areas, including economics, financial market analysis, news analysis, global markets and banking investments. BAT results are completely anonymous. Students have absolute control over their BAT scores.
More than 130,000 students from more than a thousand universities in 63 countries have taken the BAT for the past three years. ESADE Business School has been hosting BAT examinations regularly throughout the academic year since autumn 2011. Joan Grau and Alem Tleshov are the Bloomberg Campus Ambassadors responsible for promoting the BAP at ESADE.
