The learner entrepreneurs program “Aprende y Emprende” kickstarts the 2023-24 year with 26 projects in Barcelona and Madrid

The projects include a platform to facilitate the recruitment of functional diversity persons, a brand of inclusive underwear, a messaging app for persons with disabilities and a therapy for persons with mobility issues

The learner entrepreneur program “Aprende y Emprende” kickstarts the 2023-24 year with 26 projects involving 31 students, starting in September on the Esade Barcelona campus and in October on the Esade Madrid campus and finishing in spring 2024. This free training and guidance program organized by the Prevent Foundation in partnership with Esade aims to implement new business ideas and business ventures,nand focuses on functional diversity persons and persons without handicaps who submit proposals that make a social impact in this realm. 

The Barcelona edition, now in its tenth year, has 14 projects by 16 students, including an online language platform; a leisure app to enable board-game players and role-players to find other players; an online ecosystem of mental-health resources for professionals; an mediation service for foreign students wanting to go to Barcelona; a platform that helps disabled persons be recruited by tech companies; a reno company specialized in accessibility; the creation of a brand of inclusive underwear for people with reduced mobility; an online payment community for inclusive tourism; and an inclusive messaging app for people with severe disabilities, amongst others.

The program in Madrid, now in its 9th year, features 12 projects and 15 students. The projects submitted include a digital consultancy, a musical animation and sound project, an idea to encourage artistic education, a project based on ABCT compassion therapy, a mixed bio-integrated aquaponic farm with an interpretation center, and a social inclusion project based on therapy for people with reduced mobility.

Contents and duration 

This in-person academic program about entrepreneurship, features 123 hours of tuition spread over eight months taught by Esade professors and professionals from a variety of companies. Individual guidance is also provided for each project and the program has a scholarship fund for the projects rated most highly, with an allocation of €5,000 per project.

The program covers the following areas: the business plan; entrepreneurship; strategy; marketing and sales and negotiating techniques; innovation; operations; finance; legal, tax, employment and contractual considerations; and help in pitching to investors.

“Aprende y Emprende” also receives the collaboration and sponsorship of BNP Paribas, Amazon, Áreas, Fundación Jesús Serra, King, Serunion S.A., Uriach and Volkswagen Spain, and is co-financed by the Comunidad de Madrid, the Departament d'Empresa i Treball and the Departament de Drets Socials of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
