More than 90% of ESADE BBA students find a job within 6 months of graduating
- Europe, North America, Asia and Latin America, top-recruiting regions
- 76% of new BBA hires took place in Spain and 24% abroad
The employment prospects of ESADE BBA graduates are impressive. Latest job-placement data from Career Services shows that even in difficult times, 91% of ESADE's Bachelor of Business Administration students found a job within 6 months of graduating. Of these, 84% were hired by companies while 7% became entrepreneurs.
The sectors that recruited the most ESADE BBA students were industry and fast-moving consumer goods (40%), consulting services (24%), followed by financial services (16%), technology (11%), general services (7%) and communication (2%).
"These results are partly due to ESADE Business School's rigorous admission process – the average high school grade of students entering the BBA programme is 8.18 out of 10," said Cristina Olabarria, Admissions Director at ESADE.
"The competences and accreditations that students acquire during the programme and our close ties to the professional world are also crucial factors that have contributed to these high job placement rates," according to Pollyanna Nethersole, Director of Career Services at ESADE.
Europe, North America and Asia, top-recruiting regions
The Eurozone crisis hasn't had negative consequences in job-placement prospects. Europe continues to be the number one destination for ESADE BBA students who actively pursue a career right after graduation. Statistics show that 76% of new BBA hires took place in Spain and 24% abroad.
"Outside of Spain, the regions with the highest job-placement rates were Europe (54%), North America (18%), Asia (18%) and Latin America (10%)," said Maria Jose Verastegui, Director of ESADE University Programmes' Career Services.
Not all BBA students, however, got into the job market right away after graduation. Many of them – 152 out of 243 – decided to further their academic training and pursue MSc Programmes in Management.
Technology, the fastest-growing sector
The prospects for the future are promising for BBA students pursuing careers in the IT sector.
"This year the IT sector's demand for BBA students was five times higher – it increased from only 2% last year to 11% in 2013," said Ms Verastegui. "Without a doubt, technology is emerging as the fastest-growing sector in terms of BBA recruitment."
Spring Weeks, Practicum and Career Forums, three doors to employment
Spring Weeks, an initiative offered to ESADE students by British banks, have also contributed to increasing job-placement prospects. The activity allows BBA students who pass the rigorous selection process to spend a week in banks in the United Kingdom and get a hands-on experience of what it is like to work in the banking sector.
"The majority of BBA students who take part in the Spring Weeks later also succeed in landing an internship with the banks that participate in this initiative. What's more, when an ESADE student has made a strong impression during their internship, as if often the case, then they are likely to have a full time job offer waiting for them by the end of their studies," said Xènia Jarque, Associate director at ESADE Career Services.
The Practicum, a required step during the third year of the BBA programme, has also contributed to higher job-placement figures: "Several top recruiters such as McKinsey and L'Oreal have hired our BBA students after doing their Practicum with them," added Puri Cabezas, Associate Director of ESADE Career Services.
Organised by Career Services, ESADE Career Forums are also a great opportunity to network and meet potential candidates in person. Every year, more than a hundred of the world's top companies including Google, Apple, JP Morgan, Danone and Mango attend these on-campus events to seek global talent and recruit ESADE students.
About the ESADE BBA
ESADE's BBA degree offers participants a truly international experience on campus, with students coming from over twenty countries around the world. The programme also allows participants to carry out international internships in some of the world's top companies, an opportunity which often translates into hiring opportunities.
ESADE offers both a bilingual and an English BBA programme. The programme has its own innovative pedagogical system geared towards students acquiring a global perspective of business and developing the skills that single out a good manager.
Among other aspects, the BBA programme has integrated a competence and skills model into its syllabus, and combines different learning methods with active classes, the study and discussion of practical cases, simulated management scenarios, seminars on competence development, and professional internships around the world.
By the end of the BBA programme students have a complete and international view of organisations, which allows them to apply the specific knowledge and tools of each functional area to fulfil company strategies.
The ESADE BBA programme opens the doors to a wide range of job opportunities in areas such as auditing, consultancy, finance, logistics, marketing, human resources and sales, among others.
