"Starting a business just to sell it is the best guarantee of failure." These are words of Miguel Vicente, founder of LetsBonus and Wallapop, in an interview with ESADE Director of Marketing, Julio Villalobos. The meeting was organised by Barcelona Tech City, a cluster of more than 250 Barcelona companies in the technology and digital sector and of which ESADE Business & Law School is a Global Partner.

During a relaxed conversation in front of an audience of entrepreneurs, Vicente said that the formation of a cohesive team is especially important for the success of his projects. He noted that "it is important to attract talent with differing profiles", because this generates a wealth of approaches for tackling the challenges ahead.

Among the most difficult moments in the process of creating a startup is the decision about when and where to start the process of internationalisation, according to Miguel Vicente. Similarly, another key moment "is transition to a new stage" (i.e. when the company has to make decisions about leaping upward in size and recruiting new talent).

Finally, Vincent, a declared enthusiast for new businesses, wanted to emphasise the great potential of his city: "Barcelona has the talent and capacity to become a key European technology hub."

ESADE is a Global Partner of Barcelona Tech City as part of the school’s commitment to its city, but also because of the school’s enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, innovation, and the digital environment. ESADE is widely recognised for its activities in these areas and offers programmes such as Executive Master in Digital Business, Indigital, or more recently #InDIGITAL Law. The Financial Times has ranked the ESADE MBA programme among the best ten in the world for entrepreneurs.
