“We’ll continue to pursue heroism in leadership and we’ll also champion the industrial energy model that we want for this country and for Europe, because the future of coming generations is at stake,” said Josu Jon Imaz, Repsol CEO, during the 13th Esade Alumni Annual Conference in Madrid, held yesterday, Wednesday, November 22nd in the Galería de las Colecciones Reales, and attended by more than 300 Esade alumni.

During his talk, the Repsol CEO reflected on the role of leadership in the transformation of an energy company. Specifically, Josu Jon Imaz explained that leadership traits are related to heroism, ingenuity, creativity, innovation and love. “You have to love the companies, the projects and the people in the company to be able to lead them,” he said.

The Repsol CEO gave an overview of his career in the company and expressed support for “realistic, credible policies” able to address the energy trilemma: security of supply, affordability and decarbonization. He is committed to the industrial energy model as a guarantee of the future for young people. “It’s the only way we can leave them a country where they’ll have an opportunity for professional advancement,” he declared. “With these ingredients, we’ll be able to deal with the challenges posed by the energy transition and build a modern, competitive country that offers opportunities.”

The professional career of the Repsol CEO is an example and benchmark of responsible leadership and commitment to the challenges of a sustainable economy. In this respect, this energy multinational was the first company in its sector to set itself the goal of net zero by 2050, and has already prepared an ambitious roadmap to achieve this transformation.
