Esade launches a new Master in Management of Disruption for STEM graduates
Esade is launching a new Master in Management of Disruption for the academic year 2021-2022. This one-year master’s degree in English aims to equip students with a technical university profile (STEM) with business management knowledge in uncertain environments, and develop new skills that are necessary and growing in demand. Specifically, this new degree aims to foster analytical skills and provide students with the mindset and perfect combination of hard and soft skills needed to surf disruption in the near future.
“We are immersed in a profound technological change that will accentuate the trend towards robotisation and data exchange. All this is happening within in a VUCA (acronym for volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) framework, in which the conjunction of analytical and scientific capacities with managerial skills will be an essential requirement. Companies that regularly hire our MSc graduates have been requesting students with technical skills and a holistic vision of the organisation and society”, said Josep Sayeras, Associate Dean of Esade MSc Programmes and Academic Director of the New Master in Management of Disruption. “We have designed this programme specifically to overcome the challenges that technical students face when they want to make a career change. With this programme, we provide them with the management tools, the problem-solving flexibility, familiarity with a wide range of business environments, and the communication skills that are necessary in the corporate world,” Sayeras highlighted.
Graduates may choose to work in management positions in multinational companies, including areas such as general management, human resources, accounting, foreign trade, and international marketing; consultancy in public and private sectors; or start-ups that will value their technical skills combined with business knowledge. They will also be trained to become intrapreneurs, developing and implementing new business ideas from within multinational companies – but departing from an entrepreneurial mindset.
A unique learning experience in a creative, driven, and diverse environment
This management programme is designed to maximise the knowledge and skills of STEM career graduates, enabling them to design corporate strategies and adapt them to different functional areas and business units in global, uncertain, and dynamic environments; as well as to organise, integrate, and lead multidisciplinary high-performance international teams.
The programme is part of the Esade MSc in Management offering and has common traits and shared activities with other MSc programmes, such as Skills Seminars, various electives, and International Study Tours. The class profile of the Esade 2019/20 MSc intake includes 541 students from 67 nations, which provides a uniquely global, diverse, and multicultural learning environment. The new Master in Management of Disruption also has a strong focus on driving and leading change to increase sustainability in business, as well as encouraging students to create a vision for their future and that of society.
