Esade Alumni renews board of directors

Daniel Sánchez, founding partner of Nauta Capital, is the new president of Esade’s alumni association, and four new members join the Esade Alumni board of directors

Daniel Sánchez, founding partner of Nauta Capital, was appointed the new president of Esade Alumni at the last board meeting of the alumni association. The new president, a board member since 2021, replaced former president Belén Moreu. In addition, five Esade Alumni board members were renewed and four new members from different industries and backgrounds were added to continue enhancing the community: Laura Ros, CEO, Volkswagen Spain; Javier Valle, CEO, VidaCaixa; Siro Arias, CEO, Finance Services at Bluecap, a Globant Division; and Rosa María García, board member at EirGrid, EDP-Viesgo and Iberpapel. Miguel Montes, board member at Sogeviso, was renewed as board member. The board secretary is now Isabel Ferrer, a member of the board since 2021 and head of marketing for EMEA in the Dolls business unit at Mattel.

The president of the alumni association, Daniel Sánchez, explained that “work will continue on making Esade Alumni an active, interconnected community,” and highlighted that “as a community of responsible leaders, we are committed to making an on-going commitment to progress in society.”

Esade Alumni is currently drawing up their strategic plan for the next three years and has a community of more than 72,000 former students around the globe. Their mission is to improve organizations and society by facilitating professional development, participation and contribution of common values amongst its members, and organizing ventures to make a positive impact. Esade Alumni Social provides a variety of volunteering programs. In the last academic year, 370 former students took part in its consulting activities, helping 41 third-sector entities. Likewise, the association’s investment network, Esade BAN, funded 32 start-ups with investment totaling €4m.

Daniel Sánchez’s background and career 

After graduating with a degree in business science from Esade and an MBA from Chicago University, Daniel started work as a merger and buy-out consultant at Alpha Corporate, advising multinationals. He was subsequently the deputy managing director of Taurus, an electronics company focused on small electrical appliances, until he co-founded Nauta Capital where he was in charge of finance, operations (M&A) and in-house management. Former board member of the European Venture Capital Association (now called Invest Europe), board member of ASCRI, and a member of the board of trustees at the Ship2B Foundation.

Previously, Daniel Sánchez was an associate professor of finance and business globalization at Esade. He has already been a board member of the former student association, and a board member of the Esade Alumni Finance Club where he has also been president.
