ESADE allocates 1.7 million euros to scholarships, a 38% increase over last year
Six years into the economic crisis, ESADE remains committed to its Scholarship Programme. This year, the school has allocated €1.7 million to scholarships, a 38% increase over the 2012-2013 academic year. The total number of scholarship students at ESADE has risen to a record high of 202, with the average scholarship covering 54% of tuition fees.
According to Eugenia Bieto, Director General of ESADE, an extensive and varied portfolio of talent scholarships is a "critical need" for any top-notch international school. "It is essential that we attract the most talented students to ESADE, regardless of their financial position," added Dr. Bieto.
One of ESADE’s main goals is to increase the amount of money it allocates for scholarships each year and to increase the number and percentage of scholarship students in its classrooms. In the 2013-2014 academic year, 10% of ESADE’s undergraduate students received a talent scholarship. (In the Bachelor in Business Administration + Bachelor in Law Double Degree, this figure was 19%.)
These figures were presented at ESADE’s Gathering for Talent, an annual event that brings together donors and scholarship students and expresses the institution’s gratitude to the companies and individuals who have contributed to the ESADE Challenge for Talent.
Donor recognition
The ESADE Challenge for Talent was jointly created by ESADE and ESADE Alumni with the goal of expanding the school’s Scholarship Programme. This fund-raising campaign has targeted students, alumni and faculty members with the aim of raising an additional €1 million per year. The ESADE Challenge for Talent encompasses various initiatives, including 1,000 x 1,000 ESADE, through which nearly 150 donors have made significant contributions.
Collective initiatives
Donation initiatives led by students and alumni from more than 10 graduating classes and ESADE Alumni clubs and chapters have made a significant impact. In the spirit of eliminating economic barriers to an ESADE education, these classes, clubs and chapters have pooled their members’ contributions to create specific scholarships designed to provide future opportunities to talented young people.
Last year, more than 150 ESADE students pitched in to fund a one-year scholarship for one of this year’s students. Students from the Bachelor in Business Administration and Bachelor in Law have pledged to repeat the initiative in future years. In addition, ESADE Alumni’s UK Chapter and Balearic Islands Club have also created scholarships.
One of the first institutions to contribute to ESADE’s Scholarship Programme was the Banc Sabadell Foundation. Other organisations that have come on board this year include Deloitte, the Jesús Serra Foundation and Caixa d’Enginyers.
