Around 90% of ESADE students get jobs in leading international companies
Data from the latest official survey of Spain’s working population (EPA) suggests that the fall in employment has slackened and that companies are recruiting again. Proof of this is that over 70 Spanish and international companies have taken part in ESADE’s latest Career Forum to snap up the School’s talented students..
As a result, around 90% of ESADE students find work within three months of finishing the programme. Specifically, the percentages in 2013 were; 91% for MBA graduates; 92% for MSc graduates; 91% for BBA graduates.
Among the companies eager to recruit professionals trained at ESADE and which took part in the Career Forum were: Google, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley, Barclays, Vodafone, Desigual, Henkel, Goldman Sachs, Allianz, BBVA, Danone and the Japanese firm, Nomura. Furthermore, this edition of the Career Forum featured a recruiting event for start-ups such as: BidAway; King Barcelona; Live Further; Reimagine food; Star-teams; Tecnalia Ventures; Teindeo, Epsilon.
Especially in demand this year: candidates who are willing to travel and who have communication skills
"Although all candidates are in demand, companies have a strong preference for those with excellent academic training, who are willing to travel, are fluent in foreign languages, and have good analytical and communication skills", says the Director of ESADE’s Career Services, Iain McLoughlin.
McLoughlin highlights the fact that 83% of MBA graduates find jobs abroad (that is to say, outside Spain). This figure breaks down as follows: 48% in Europe (11% in Germany, 10% in The United Kingdom, 9% in Switzerland and 18% in the rest of the continent), followed by 10% in Asia, 9% in Latin America, 8% in The United States and Canada, 7% in The Middle East, 1% in Africa [Grand Total: 83%]. The international presence of MSc graduates in 2013 was 49% and 32% were graduates of the BBA programme during the same period.
The sectors recruiting the most graduates
Industry represents the strongest demand for MBA graduates (32%) and for MSc graduates (31%). It also recruits many BBA students (28%), coming second only to the Finance sector. Consulting is among the three top sectors recruiting ESADE graduates and is followed by the technological, general services and communications sectors.
With regard to the starting salaries of ESADE graduates, one should note that these are holding up despite the crisis. For example, the average salary of those completing the MBA programme in 2013 was around €70,000 per annum. .
