Fusion Point is an academic initiative that encourages applied research and new teaching methodologies by solving business challenges.
We bring together technology, design, management, and business law in an innovative educational experience – that provides real solutions to global challenges that impact on organisations and society.
It is a pioneering project led by Esade, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), and the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED). Involves interdisciplinary teams of students, researchers, and lecturers, who combine knowledge and experience in the service of society.

The educational value of Fusion Point lies in its innovative learning formula that solves real challenges received from companies, non-profit organisations, or administrations. Fusion Point offers disruptive solutions in the form of new products, services, or business models.
Fusion Point forms communities of practice of professionals and students around social and business challenges. Participants from organisations, academia, and society converge within these communities and apply their knowledge to create synergies.
Students of design (IED), engineering (UPC), and management and law (Esade) join together in multidisciplinary teams and work to find solutions, with a comprehensive vision that maximises the possibilities of innovation and success. .
Fusion Point uses a learning methodology that enables real challenges to be tackled in a practical and iterative manner. The result is a solid, effective, and motivating educational experience.
This pioneering initiative by Esade, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and the Instituto Europeo di Design uses experiential learning to innovate and provide new disruptive solutions that can generate a positive global impact on organisations, academia, and society.
Fusion Point has developed an innovative and disruptive academic offer that is oriented towards the main training needs demanded by society. We use each of our courses to implement and validate the latest trends and academic tools. In addition, we bring together multidisciplinary groups of students who work together to generate creative ideas and novel solutions.
At Fusion Point, we follow many lines of research, and these have enabled us to design and implement all of our teaching programs. This work has also enabled us to generate knowledge by publishing articles and papers in scientific journals.
Innovation activities are of major importance to Fusion Point. We organize research workshops, seminars, hackathons, and open days for anyone who wants to participate.
Fusion Pointis part of design factory global network (DFGN), a network of innovation hubs in universities and research organisations in five continents of the world, whose mission is to create change in the world of learning and research through passion-based culture and effective problem solving.
Fusion Point collaborates with a variety of companies, non-for-profit organizations or public authorities sponsoring the challenges our courses address.
