BitSpace: New approaches to digital well-being and healthy habits
Esade’s Chair for Socially Responsible Digital Innovation recently had the opportunity to meet the BitSpace team, an initiative born from the initiative of three young students with a clear idea: that technology can help us to better relate to technology.
His project revolves around gamification and emotional bonding as a driver of change of habits. The central proposal is the creation of a "Bit", a digital entity that reflects the user's behavior and accompanies him in a process of awareness and self-regulation. Unlike approaches based on blockages or restrictions, BitSpace is committed to strengthening autonomy through reflection and the progressive construction of habits, especially in relation to the use of mobile phones and social networks. A conversation that also allowed us to explore how these environments can offer real alternatives to the dominant models of the attention economy, promoting a more conscious and sustainable use of technology.
The three members of the team, Jan Moran, Gerard Garcia Gros and Lluna Lara Valle, are currently in the development phase of the application. It will soon be downloadable, and we want to see how it evolves.
