The Esade Center for Social Impact, in collaboration with eWorks, is implementing the ‘0Waste’ initiative, as part of the European project ‘CircularB30' for overcoming the circular economy and reducing waste.
The project seeks innovative business solutions that boost sustainability in the B30 highway area. This area generates almost 50% of the industrial waste in the area of Barcelona, and that corresponds to 25% of the waste generated in Catalonia.
To this end, Esade launched three programs during the 2021-2022 academic year to support entrepreneurs with sustainable business ideas.
0Waste Hackathon
0Waste Hackathon was a two-day event held at the Esade Sant Cugat campus focused on inspiring and developing business ideas to tackle sustainability and waste production problems in the B30 area. Participants benefited from expert talks on topics such as sustainability and design thinking, received mentorship, and presented their ideas to a jury panel.
0Waste Pre-Accelerator
0Waste Pre-Accelerator was a free pre-accelerator program aimed at entrepreneurs wanting to develop business ideas and models for reducing waste and boosting sustainability. Participants received more than a month of mentorship and training to develop or consolidate their business plans. The best projects gained direct entry to the 0Waste Accelerator.
0Waste Accelerator
0Waste Accelerator was a free three-month accelerator program for early-stage entrepreneurs to help them create ventures that reduce waste or promote the circular economy. It run from June to September 2022. Benefits for participants include more than €10,000 of in-kind contributions, access to mentorship and workshops, as well as the chance to participate in a final Demo Day with real investors.
