We are happy to welcome you to a new edition of the Esade Sustainability Week, an event designed to bring our entire community together to share our experiences and knowledge, to help us to become promoters and agents of change and to create a more sustainable society.

As in previous years, we have organized curricular activities in our classrooms as well as co-curricular activities, allowing us to use our entire campus and its surroundings as a learning lab. These activities are open to the entire community.

We would like to encourage you to take part and help us to move forward towards the real transformation of our community.

During our Sustainability Week all our students will be covering topics on sustainability in different courses. Below, you will find a list of courses by program.

Saturday February 17th

Collserola Walk: Just walk, breathe and contemplate

10.00h to 13.00h - Barcelona

Walking allows us to meet nature, creating a bond of care and respect towards it. This walk will give us the opportunity to walk from the Barcelona Campus to the Sant Cugat Campus, through the Collserola Natural Park. It will take approximately three hours. The return to Barcelona will be by train from the Sant Cugat station.
Activity open to the entire community.

Regenerative Retreat – Executive Masters Barcelona

Masterclass: Impact Measurement and Management

Join Esade Center for Social Impact at Norrsken House Barcelona on Monday, February 19 for a transformative conversation on Impact Measurement and Management. We are excited to invite you to an exclusive Masterclass on Impact Measurement and Management led by ECSI Director Lisa Hehenberger and Jeremy Nicholls, the Assurance Framework lead for the UNDP SDG Impact Standards.

Climate Change. We will not talk about polar bears or melting ice sheets. The Week is about what is likely to happen to us and the people we love in the next 10, 20 or 30 years, and what we can realistically do about it.

In group: 20 students and 20 Alumni. Because it is useful to address an issue as important as the climate crisis with people from different generations.

Three episodes:  the group meets online 3 times, for a week. Each time they will watch a 1-hour episode of the documentary and then have a discussion for 30 minutes. Get ready for a roller coaster: in episode 1 we go down and look in front of what is coming with climate change. In episode 2, at the bottom of the experience, we make sense of everything. And in episode 3 we go up again, it's empowering and inspiring.

Informative Quiz: ¿What is your CO2 food print?

13.00 to 14.00 - Building 3, Barcelona Campus

The Energy & Environment & Net Impact clubs will be hosting an event for ESADE MBA students and Program Management in Building 3 where individuals will discover the truth about their carbon footprint. Students will take the Wren Carbon Tracker Quiz (~3-5 mins) and share information about their daily habits (transportation, food travel, etc). The results of the quiz will estimate their annual CO2 emissions in tons. The Energy & Environment & Net Impact clubs will set up a screen to visually compare individuals' results to the global average and compare against our classmates and peers."

Join a chat with Eric Domingo, a professional athlete, and his mother, Silvia Roldán

Discover how the seemingly simple act of running can defy a degenerative disease. What began as a wild idea - running 10km while pushing a wheelchair - has evolved into a heartwarming tale of a mother-son bond and triumph. Eric Domingo and Silvia Roldán share their journey of raising awareness for Multiple Sclerosis in their own unique way running across Spain and around the world, even securing a Guinness World Record.

At this event, we will discuss with the Chief Prosecutor for Environmental and Urban Planning Crimes of the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia, from the perspective of practical experience, the main challenges faced in combating environmental crime. This includes its limitations, guarantees, deficiencies, and improvements, coordination with other national and international mechanisms for environmental protection, and ultimately, the effectiveness of criminal law as a tool in service of sustainability. All of this will be based on cases from daily practice and critical issues arising from the extraordinary relevance of this subject.

En el presente acto debatiremos con el Fiscal Jefe de los delitos de medioambiente y urbanismo del Tribunal Superior de Justicia de Cataluña, desde el punto de vista de la experiencia práctica, cuáles son los principales retos que afronta la lucha contra la criminalidad medioambiental, sus límites, garantías, deficiencias y mejoras, la coordinación con otros mecanismos nacionales e internacionales de protección del medioambiente y, en definitiva, la eficacia del Derecho penal como instrumento al servicio de la sostenibilidad. Transformational leadership and social and environmental sustainability - In conversation with Núria Cabutí (CEO of Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial)

How do you manage change within a company?

Sustainability, the role of women in business and leadership are some of the topics addressed in this event, a collaboration between Esade Language Center and Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial, as part of a project with German language learners. Núria Cabutí, CEO of PRHGE, tells us about her career and experiences, in a conversation with Cristina Giménez, Director of Identity and Mission at Esade.

We invite you to discover first-hand how Núria became a transformational leader, as well as obstacles she faced along the way.

The role of gender equality and inclusion for a sustainable academia

13.15 to 14.30 - Sala polivalente, Building 2, Campus Barcelona

The workshop will address the topic of ensuring gender equality and inclusion, as a strategic goal for sustainability in academia. It will start with an outline of the strategies to mainstream gender equality and inclusion in European and Spanish higher education institutions, dealing with the most relevant best practices and the role that all the stakeholders can play. The second part of the workshop will move the focus on Esade, describing the main measures of the Gender Equality Plan approved in 2022, and stimulating a common reflection on the contribution that everyone in the institution could provide in order to improve inclusion and equality.

Conscious leadership and purpose to achieve sustainable impact

Although there is awareness that to address today’s grand challenges, we need transformational change at the personal, organizational and society level, most of the conversations forget the relevance of inner development, which is an accelerator for transformation and external impact. To align our knowing and doing to achieve a more sustainable world a particular way of being is needed. In this session, Xavier Mendoza and Angel Castiñeira will talk with Belen Viloria and Carles Navarro about the role of conscious leadership and purpose to achieve sustainable impact.

Organized by Esade Alumni Social, Esade Alumni Consulting Club, and the Student Association 180 Degrees Consulting

During the event, participants will hear a lecture titled “What should the pillars of our strategy in the following years be? Let’s talk about sustainability and ESG for a company like Marinella,” written by Paolo Taticchi and Chiara Andreoli, following a case-cracking workshop where insightful solutions will be shared and discussed.
