Frequently Asked Questions

Admissions application

When can I apply?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Our admissions process officially begins in October and ends in June or as long as programme spots are still available. We recommend you send us your application as soon as possible given that spots in our programmes are limited.

How does the admissions process work?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Currently, our admissions process is 100% online. You can begin the admissions process via our website and clicking on the Apply online button you’ll find in the banner at the top of each programme’s dedicated webpage. It’s a simple process! Just follow the steps!

Can I apply for more than one programme?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Yes! You can apply for as many programmes as you like, though you can only send us one application for a specific programme. After forwarding this first application, send us an e-mail (admissions@esade.edu), indicating for which other programmes you’d like to apply. We’ll adapt your application for those other programmes. In addition, if you want to apply for a programme taught entirely in English and another bilingual programme, for example, we recommend you first apply for the programme taught in English or the one with the most admissions requirements.

Do I need to have a certain GPA (grade point average or average mark) in order to apply?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Esade doesn’t require candidates to have a certain GPA. Our Admissions Committee assesses candidates by creating a profile based on the information they provide in their applications, their academic transcripts and their results on the Esade Admissions Test.

What if I don’t have an official English level certificate? Can I still apply?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

The Esade Admissions Test includes a section in English to try to assess your level. However, the Admissions Committee may ask you to present an official English level certificate if it deems necessary. To see the language requirements for each programme, click here.

Is there any difference when applying from one country or another?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

No. At Esade we do not differentiate in terms of students’ nationalities or their countries of origin.

Does any part of the admissions process require me to be there in person?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Currently, our admissions process is 100% online, so you don’t have to be present for any of the process steps.

Is a personal interview required?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Interviews are an essential part of the admissions process for the Bachelor in Transformational Leadership and Social Impact. However, they are not required for the remaining undergraduate programmes, though the Admissions Committee may request an interview if it deems necessary.

I’m having problems completing the admissions application. Should I start all over again?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

If you have any problems completing your admissions application or attempting to access the Esade portal, send us an e-mail (admissions@esade.edu), and we’ll help you to resolve the issue. You don’t have to start all over and lose all the information you’ve already introduced.

What should I do if I have problems paying the application fee?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Don’t worry. Send us an e-mail (admissions@esade.edu), and we’ll help you to resolve the issue.

If I present an English level certificate, do I still have to complete the English component in the Admissions Test?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Yes. The English component in the Esade Admissions Test is required for all students, regardless of whether or not they provide an official certificate, the educational system in which they’ve studied or the country in which they live.

Admissions process

When will I get the results of my admissions test?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Esade does not publish Esade Admissions Test results nor does it share them with you or anybody else. This information is only sent to the Admissions Committee for it to assess your candidature.

How long does it take to know if I’ve been admitted?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Once you’ve completed your application and taken the Admissions Test, we will check to ensure that you have provided all the necessary documents (marks on your first evaluations, official English level certificate if necessary, etc.). If this is in fact the case, we will begin preparing your file to present your candidature to the Admissions Committee. This process tends to take at least 3 weeks.

Can I send additional documents to the Admissions Committee for it to consider as part of my candidature?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

The Admissions Committee bases its decisions especially on the information provided in your admissions application, your academic transcript and the Admissions Test. However, if you have official certificates for other languages or other degrees or if you want to present a letter of intent or a letter of recommendation, feel free to send them to us. We will include them in your file so that the Admissions Committee can take them into account when assessing your candidature.

The Admissions Committee wants me to provide additional information about my marks/grades. What should I do?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

This means that the Admissions Committee has assessed your candidature but, given the information you’ve provided thus far, it cannot make a final determination about your candidature. Consequently, you will be required to provide the certificate of your marks for the following assessment period so that the Admissions Committee can re-assess your candidature.

Esade Admissions Test

What can I do to prepare for the Admissions Test?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

The Esade Admissions Test does not test your knowledge but, rather, your abilities. Consequently, you cannot study any specific subject to try to improve your results.

However, we do recommend you consult a sample test to have a general idea about the types of questions you’ll be asked. You can download a sample test here.

What mark do I have to earn on the Admissions Test to be admitted?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Candidates do not pass or fail the Esade Admissions Test. The latter simply serves to gain insights on undergraduate programme candidates’ profiles.

The Admissions Test is just one of the elements considered during the admissions process. We also give equal weight to the information you provide via your online application and your academic transcript.

Can I re-sit the Admissions Test?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

No. You can only take the Admissions Test once per academic year.

Is the Admissions Test compulsory?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Yes. The Esade Admissions Test is compulsory excepting for students who present official SAT or ACT results (two admissions tests used by the world’s most prestigious universities). If you forward these results, you do not have to sit the Esade Admissions Test.

Can I sit the Admissions Test straight away?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

No. To be able to sit the Admissions Test, you have to have completed your admissions application first. You will be able to choose the date and time of the Admissions Test only after you’ve completed your application.

When will I find out the date and time of the Admissions Test?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

When you’ve completed your admissions application, you’ll receive an e-mail allowing you to choose the date and time that best suits you.

I can’t find any information about payments. What should I do?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

All the information regarding payments is detailed on the second page of your admissions letter.
You can also download this information directly from the Esade portal.

Where can I obtain payment receipts?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

You can download your payment receipts by going to: MyEsade>MySite>MyEconomic Information

When do classes start?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Classes always start within the first two weeks of September. We’ll inform you of the exact date when you enrol in the different programme subjects.

Can I begin the year online?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

No. Esade’s methodology for undergraduate programmes is 100% in person.

What is the course schedule like?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

At Esade course schedules are organised by sections into morning and afternoon sessions. The aim is for you to complete all your compulsory subjects during either the morning or afternoon session and complete all your electives, second language courses, group activities and tutorials in the other session (afternoon or morning). Consequently, undergraduate programmes require your full dedication and availability. The timetables for each section can also vary from one academic year to the next.

Can I choose my own section and timetable?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

No. Under no circumstance can students choose the section for their undergraduate programmes. Programme Management assigns these sections and their timelines, applying rigorous and objective criteria based on students’ gender, geographic origin, the schools where they studied, languages, etc. This serves to ensure that the different sections are as diverse as possible, that we maximise interaction in our classrooms and that we improve synergies between students.

Can I choose the language for a bilingual course?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Esade only guarantees students a spot in sections meeting their language needs if they are from other Spanish autonomous communities or other countries and they indicate that they truly do not master Catalan. In all other cases, Esade assigns spots according to students’ individual profiles to thus ensure diversity in our classrooms both academically and personally (nationality, school of origin, gender, etc.). In no case does Esade allow students to choose their corresponding sections.

I’ve been assigned to section A/B/C/D/E/F. What does this mean?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

The assigned section corresponds to a specific group of students, timetable and language. You will be in the same section throughout the entire programme. In addition, each section has an assigned Programme Manager who will organise an informational/welcome session and inform you about the key points you should bear in mind academically.

How do I choose electives?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Students can access the E-Office tool through our intranet (MyEsade) when enrolling for their classes throughout the programme. The different Programme Managers will hold dedicated informational sessions and send students the pertinent instructions to ensure they enrol correctly.

Do I have to buy any books or material before the programme starts?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

No. You do not generally have to buy any books or material. However, if a specific subject does require any additional material, the corresponding faculty will indicate this directly and/or include the information in the syllabus.

Why have I been given an Esade username?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Your assigned Esade username and password will let you access MyEsade, ECampus, your Esade e-mail account and other platforms you’ll use at Esade throughout the programme, as well as allow you to activate your TUI student card.

How do I enrol in my programme?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

After you’ve been admitted and as the enrolment period nears, the corresponding programme department will provide you step-by-step instructions for you to correctly enrol in the first programme year.

When do I actually enrol in the programme?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Enrolment won’t be complete until all the documents Programme Management requires have been validated and you have paid the corresponding tuition fees for the first year (or the first instalment if opting for this type of payment).

I’ve been asked to provide documents that I already forwarded during the admissions process. Why? What should I do?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

In this case, we need the original documents. These are the same ones you provided through the online admissions process, but, this time, we need to receive them physically at our Sant Cugat offices with the official stamps and signatures from your school. Optionally, your school can forward these stamped and signed documents directly to us by e-mail (admissions@esade.edu). This is required because, after you’ve been admitted, we need to verify that the documents you provided during the admissions process and which the Admissions Committee used to assess your candidature are accurate and true.

Do I need to have my studies officially recognised or validated if I haven’t studied in the Spanish educational system?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Yes. If you’ve studied in any educational system other than the Spanish system, you are required to have your studies officially recognised. Please click here for more information on how to have your studies recognised depending on your educational system.

When should I begin the process to have my studies officially recognised?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

When you can begin this process depends on the educational system where you’ve studied.

I’ve paid to reserve my spot in the programme. When will I receive confirmation?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Payment can take approximately a week and a half to be registered in your Esade account depending on your bank and country of origin. We will send you your confirmation by e-mail.

When will I be able to actually enrol in the programme?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Enrolment begins in July. The corresponding programme department will provide you all the information you need to be able to correctly enrol on time. It will send you these instructions to the e-mail address you indicated when presenting your application.

How can I pay my tuition and fees conveniently and securely?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

You can pay your enrollment and fees online through Flywire, our preferred payment partner. Flywire provides a secure global payment network that simplifies the payment of your fees. Payment options may include bank transfers, credit cards, e-wallets, and more, usually in your local currency, for most countries.

Talent and Financial Need Scholarships | Academic Excellence Awards

What’s the difference between a scholarship and an award?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Our Talent Scholarships take students’ academic merits and their families’ economic situations into account and they can cover up to 100% of students’ tuition fees throughout the entire programme at Esade.

For their part, Academic Excellence Awards take into account students’ academic performance during the last two years of their baccalaureate programmes up until the time they are admitted. These awards can cover from 25% to 75% of tuition fees for the first year at Esade.

When can I apply for a scholarship given my financial need?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

You can apply for a scholarship once the Admissions Committee admits you to the programme for which you’ve applied.

How do I apply for a scholarship?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

After you’ve been admitted to your programme, you can upload your duly completed scholarship application and any required documents via the corresponding link in each call for scholarship applications. You’ll find this link in the downloadable scholarship rules and conditions.

If you do not complete the scholarship application correctly or the accrediting documents you provide are insufficient, your application will not be forwarded to the Scholarship Committee. It will be sent to the corresponding committee once all the information presented is complete.

How many scholarships can I apply for at a time?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

There is only one type of scholarship at Esade, the Talent Scholarship. When assessing your application, the Scholarship Committee can decide to grant you a scholarship covering a percentage up to 100% of your annual tuition fees.

Does Esade offer a scholarship that covers tuition fees as well as housing and food-related costs?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Esade only offers one type of scholarship, the Talent Scholarship, which covers a percentage of your tuition fees. However, it also has two extensions, one for housing (Lodging Grant) and another for food (Living Grant). By “extensions”, we refer to the fact that you can only apply for the Living and Lodging Grants if you have been awarded a Talent Scholarship.

Can I apply just for the Lodging or Living Grant?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

No. Both grants are extensions of the Talent Scholarship. In other words, if you have not been awarded a Talent Scholarship, you cannot apply for these grants.

Do I have to have a minimum GPA (grade point average or average mark) to be able to apply for a scholarship?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

To apply for a scholarship you have to have a solid academic record and be able to demonstrate your financial need.

Where can I find the deadlines to apply for a scholarship?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

You can download a PDF file with all the information about scholarships, including the deadlines to present the required documents and the decision timeframe, via our website in the section dedicated to scholarships.

When will the Scholarship Committee announce its final decisions?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Each call for scholarship applications has established deadlines for candidates to present the required documents and a specific timeframe to announce decisions regarding the applications presented in each call. You’ll find all this information in the rules and conditions for scholarship applications.

Can I contact someone to help me with the scholarship application after I’ve been admitted to the programme?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

When can I apply for an Academic Excellence Award?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

You can apply for this award after you’ve been admitted by the committee to your specific programme.

Do I have to have a minimum GPA (grade point average or average mark) to apply for an Academic Excellence Award?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Regardless of your nationality or origin, you can opt for an award if you have an excellent academic transcript: a mean GPA between 9 and 10 (out of 10) in the last two years of your baccalaureate programme (or equivalent depending on the educational system in your country or the International Baccalaureate).

Can I apply for more than one award?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

No. You can only apply for one award after determining for which one you meet the requirements.

Can I apply for a scholarship and an award?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Yes. You can apply for both without any problem; they aren’t mutually exclusive.

If I apply for both a scholarship and an award, will they potentially cover more than 100% of my programme fees?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

No. If you apply for both a scholarship and an award at the same time and you are granted both, the percentage covered by the award will be added to the percentage of your scholarship to cover up to 100% of your fees.

I want to apply for an award but I can’t find that option on the Esade portal.

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Generally, you can simply scroll down the Esade portal page where you should find that option. If you still can’t find it, contact us by e-mail (admissions@esade.edu), and we’ll help you to resolve this issue.

The financial requirements for scholarships talk about a family of 4, but there are more/less than 4 people in my family. What is the requirement in this case?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

The financial requirement is established for a family of 4 as a general reference. You can extrapolate the figure by applying the rule of three to the number of people in your family.

I live with one of my parents and have no contact whatsoever with my other parent. Consequently, I can’t get the corresponding documentation from him/her. What should I do?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

In this case, you have to provide an official document indicating that the parent in question is completely disassociated from you or, similarly, a divorce settlement recognizing that responsibility for your higher education solely corresponds to one of your parents (the parent whose documentation you can provide).

What is an “income certificate”?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

This is a document that all salaried employees have to request from their companies’ HR department. The annex documents in the scholarship rules and conditions include an income certificate template.

My mother/father is self-employed. What documentation do I have to present?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Their latest quarterly VAT declaration, information regarding their status as self-employed workers and the document corresponding to the presentation of their annual accounts.

My mother/father works for a company that she/he owns along with other partners. What documentation do I have to present?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

The company’s statement of accounts, annual accounts and fiscal documents.

What tax return should I provide?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

You have to forward the latest tax return available, though committing to send us the new one as soon as it’s available.

I don’t understand why I have to provide such detailed documents to apply for a scholarship.

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Fundació Esade’s Scholarship Programme is funded by profits earned by the foundation and donations from individuals, companies and other foundations. Consequently, our commitment to provide maximum transparency is doubly important. For this reason, it is essential for us to have an in-depth knowledge of your financial situation.

I still haven’t been admitted, but my final decision to go to Esade will depend on my receiving a scholarship.

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

You can’t apply for a scholarship until you’ve been admitted to your programme. If you know that you’ll need a scholarship to be able to study at Esade, we recommend you start the admissions process early on so that you’ll know whether or not you’ve been admitted as soon as possible.

To buy some time, I want to start the Esade admissions process and present my scholarship application at the same time.

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

We cannot process your scholarship application until you’ve been admitted to your programme. Consequently, your scholarship application will not be forwarded to the Scholarship Committee until the corresponding programme’s Admissions Committee admits you.

What happens if I’ve been awarded a scholarship for one programme but I decide to switch to another programme later on?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

In this case, we’ll try to transfer your scholarship to the new programme as quickly as possible. However, the Talent Attraction Committee has to reassess the scholarship award to validate it for the new programme.

What financial documents do I have to provide when applying for a scholarship?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

All the information about the required documents you have to present is available in the downloadable scholarship rules and conditions (in the Required Documentation section).

Do the documents have to be in English?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

The documents can be in one of the three official languages at Esade: English, Spanish or Catalan.

Do I need sworn translations of my documents?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

You have to provide sworn translations for key documents written in languages other than English, Spanish or Catalan. These documents include those regarding property and other official documents.

Financing and bank loans

What happens if I take out a loan but decide not to enrol later on?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

The commission fee for the early termination of your loan is 0%, implying that there is no additional cost.

I have to pay 25% of my tuition fees to reserve a spot in my programme and I also want to apply for a loan. I don’t know if I’ll have to take out another loan to pay the rest of the tuition.

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

No problem: You can request a loan for the amount you need the moment you have to reserve your spot and then apply for another loan for the remaining amount.

How much do I have to pay every month for my loan?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Banks offer highly flexible payment options, allowing you to choose the amount of each instalment and when you have to pay them: monthly, every two months or every quarter. Candidates agree on these instalment terms directly with their banks.

What happens if I apply for a loan when reserving my spot in the programme but then don’t pass the university entrance exam and can’t start the programme?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

In this case, you would have to terminate the loan (0% cost). The only cost would be the interest owed while the loan was still active.

Can a student who has to repeat a programme year but is NOT enrolled in the full year (completing only some subjects) still apply for a loan?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Some banks provide financing for repeating students who only have to re-enrol in certain subjects.

Online informational sessions

How do I register for an online event?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

You can register via our website, clicking here.

The system won’t let me register. Can I still attend?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Of course! Send us an e-mail (admissions@esade.edu) for us to provide you all the relevant information.

I registered for an online event but won’t be able to attend after all. What should I do?

Path 4 Copy 5 Created with Sketch.

Please send us an e-mail (admissions@esade.edu) for us to help you.
