Do I need a visa to study at Esade?
This depends on your nationality. Students from the European Union do not need a visa to study in Spain. If you are coming from outside the EU, you must apply for a student visa at the Spanish consulate or embassy in your country of origin.

When should I apply for a student visa?
It is recommended that you start the process as soon as you receive your Esade admission letter, as the procedure may take several weeks. You should apply at least 2 to 3 months before your arrival in Barcelona.

What documents do I need to apply for the visa?
You will typically be asked for the enrollment letter (available after paying the deposit), proof of financial means, valid health insurance in Spain, a valid passport, and proof of accommodation. Always check the most up-to-date requirements at the Spanish consulate in your country.

Does a student visa allow me to work in Spain?
Yes, but with limitations. A student visa allows you to work part-time (up to 30 hours per week), provided that the job is compatible with your studies.

Required documentation

Before starting your application, make sure you have the following documents ready:

• Copy of your national ID or passport
• Original copy or certified copy of:
  • The diploma or qualification that grants access to university
  • Academic transcripts from the last two years of study
• Proof of payment of the UNED fee
• Completed and signed “student declaration” form

Important:

• If you studied under the IB (International Baccalaureate) system, you must send your final results through the official International education - International Baccalaureate® platform to Esade and UNEDassis.
• If you studied under the Chinese education system, you must submit a certified sworn translation into Spanish of all documentation.

When should you start the process?

Even if you do not yet have all your final grades, you can start the process and upload the available documents. This saves time and ensures your file is already being processed.

UNED usually takes several weeks to issue the credential, which is required for the enrollment process that begins in July.

If you completed your studies in an education system other than those mentioned above, you must apply for official recognition (homologation) of your secondary education diploma through the Spanish Ministry of Education.

The homologation credential officially recognizes your qualification and equates it to the Spanish High School Diploma, which is a mandatory requirement to enroll in any official Spanish university.

How to apply for homologation

You can submit your documentation in different ways:

• In person at a registry office of the Spanish Ministry of Education or a Government Delegation.
• From abroad, through the Spanish consulate in your country.
• Through a specialized agency that will handle the process on your behalf. Many students work with the following Esade-recommended agency:

Required documentation

• Certified copy of your secondary education diploma or qualification that grants access to university in your country.
• Certified copy of transcripts from the last three academic years, including subjects taken and grades obtained.
• Certified sworn translation into Spanish or English of all documents (if they are not already in these languages).
• Passport and certified copy.
• Official homologation application form.
• Proof of payment of the administrative fee.

*Certification can be carried out at the Spanish consulate or by an authorized notary.

When should you start the process?

The process may take several months (between 6 and 9), so it is recommended to start as soon as you obtain your secondary school diploma or university access qualification.

The Ministry allows provisional enrollment by submitting proof that the homologation application has been filed, even if the process has not yet been completed. This document must be presented during your enrollment process at Esade until official homologation is granted.

  You may submit proof of having applied for homologation or the UNED credential and complete the remaining documents later.
• Can I enroll if I do not yet have the official diploma?
  Yes, as long as you provide official proof that it has been requested.
• Which documents must be originals and which are accepted as copies?
  Generally, diplomas and credentials must be submitted as originals or certified copies; other certificates may be accepted as simple copies.
• How do I submit the documentation if I am still abroad?
  You can send it by registered mail or submit it in person upon arrival in Barcelona.
