Summary and audio of the event “Towards an ecosystem of excellence in artificial intelligence based on trust”

19 May, 2021
Artificial intelligence is one of the great social and political challenges of our time, and at EsadeEcPol we want to contribute to the debate on how to meet this challenge. To this end, on 5 May we held a webinar to discuss the transformative potential of this technology, the risks it entails and the need to regulate how it works. We had exceptional guests: Carme Artigas, Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence; Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras, associate professor of Commercial Law at Carlos III University and member of the expert group that has advised the European Commission; and Cecilia Álvarez, Privacy Policy Director at Facebook for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Nacho Torreblanca, director of ECFR’s Madrid office, moderated and led the debate, putting the key questions to the other speakers.
In case you were unable to follow the event, or if you would like to go over its content, here are three ways to do so:
Text. Through this summary document including all the key points of the debate.
Audio. Through an episode of our podcast Policy Insights, which includes the full audio of the event.
Video. And, of course, by watching the webinar broadcast again.
