The Feminization of Poverty: Single Motherhood as a Factor Increasing the Risk of Housing Exclusion
The report, produced by the Decent Housing Observatory of Esade's Institute for Social Innovation in collaboration with Fundació Hàbitat3 and Fundació Habitatge Social, examines how single motherhood increases the risk of housing exclusion. Drawing on the experiences of 48 women in Barcelona and its metropolitan area, the study explores the challenges of accessing stable housing and their connection to precarious employment, migration and gender-based violence. The publication highlights the role of the third sector and offers recommendations for promoting public housing policies tailored to the needs of these families.
Perspectives on Aporophobia
The publication, edited by the Observatory for Decent Housing (Esade Institute for Social Innovation) together with IQS-URL, brings together a selection of papers and essays from the first three International Congresses on Aporophobia. The volume examines the rejection of poor people from philosophical, legal, social, economic and technological perspectives, and addresses its presence in institutions, policies and discourse. The work offers an interdisciplinary approach that combines academic rigour with social commitment.
Chair for Socially Responsible Digital Innovation (SoReDI)
Technology shapes our daily lives, yet many digital environments foster isolation, polarization, and distress, particularly among younger generations. SoReDI was created to promote socially responsible digital innovation, a space where industry and society come together to research, imagine, and collaboratively build a new way of relating to technology, in service of people.
