Research and Outputs
  • For us, research is an indispensable element in differentiating the educational programmes we offer. We have a consolidated track record in this field, facilitated by our links with an extensive international academic network. CEDIT currently has two research groups.

    CEMS Faculty Group on Tourism

In April 2007, the creation of the CEMS Faculty Group on Tourism was approved. This is a CEDIT initiative in collaboration with Universitā Luigi Bocconi in Milan, the Institut für Tourismus und Freizeitwirtschaft in Vienna, the Institut für Tourismus und Verkehrswirtschaft in St. Gallen and Erasmus Universiteit in Rotterdam.
The objective of the Faculty Group is to create an open group to conduct research and academic activities in tourism and leisure. It is intended to promote inter-university studies in tourism, to encourage academic ties, to generate synergies and to advance the reputation of CEMS. After its approval by the CEMS Committee, the first encounter was held on 23rd May at ESADE Forum in Barcelona. The event took place as part of the XVI International Tourism and Leisure Symposium, organised by ESADE's Centre for Tourism Management (CEDIT).

GRUGET, Research Group in Tourism Management

Another CEDIT initiative is the setting up of the Research Group in Tourism Management (GRUGET) within the framework of URL. This group is initially formed by ESADE Professors Pere Batallé, Gerard Costa, Xari Rovira, Josep-Francesc Valls and Mar Vila, the group's main researchers, along with Rafael Periáņez, Professor at the University of Seville, and Ricard Santomā, Professor at the Sant Ignasi School of Tourism (URL) and PhD student at the Sarriá Chemical Institute (URL). In addition to these group members is added the collaboration of several ESADE students as research assistants.

The aim of creating these two groups, in their respective spheres of activity, is to promote research activities in the field of tourism management - both for companies and destinations - and to exchange knowledge on tourism and leisure involving different disciplines and countries.
