The labor market has always been considered key for the economy's development. It is even more relevant today in the Knowledge Society as human capital is extremely important in order to build competitive advantage. As a result, when we refer to the job market these days, we refer not only to the classic and unquestionably important factors such as the unemployment/employment rate, conflicts, and collective bargaining issues, to name just a few, but also, to:
- Training human capital
- Job quality, and
- The impact of both of these on productivity.
The IEL's Labor Market Division focuses on these topics and will continue to do so as they are extremely interrelated. Without job quality, human capital training will suffer and, without the latter, it will be difficult to reach the productivity levels needed to continue developing the Knowledge Society..
