Biography
Ignasi Carreras Fisas is an Industrial Engineer UPC and a graduate in Business Management and Organization EAE. He has taken postgraduate courses in executive development at ESADE Senior Executive Programme and at Babson Business School, and in leadership and management of not-for-profit organizations at Stanford and Harvard Universities.He is senior lecturer in ESADE's Department of Strategy and General Management, where he specializes in strategy, leadership and management of change in organizations.He is the Director of ESADE's Executive Education programes: 'Direction and Management of NGOs' and 'Social Leadership and Innovation'  and Director of the Esade-PWC Knowledege Generation Program about Social Leadership.He created September 2006  and has been the Director until August 2018 of ESADE's Institute for Social Innovation. The Institute is devoted to generating and circulating knowledge and to providing training in the spheres of corporate social responsibility, leadership and management of NGOs, other kind of not-for-profit organizations and social companies, and models for social innovation. Nowdays, he is a senior researcher in this Center.He collaborates with various international organizations, NGOs and foundations. He is Chair of Oxfam Intermón and member of the International Board of Oxfam, Whère he is he chair of the Program Supervisory Committee.  Also he is Deputy Chair of Jaume Bofill Foundation and member of the board of Hazlo Posible Foundation. He  takes part in the advisory council of other civil society organizations. He has been member of the global board of directors of the Global Reporting Initiative GRI and has been also member of the board of trustees of Lealtad Foundation, Cristianisme i Justícia, Fundació Borja de Bioética and Casal dels Infants. He was Director General of  Oxfam Intermón, one of the main international NGOs dedicated to co-operation and development where he worked the period 1988-2005, and a member of the Management Committee of Oxfam International. Previously 1981-1988, he worked for the Generalitat Autonomous Government of Catalonia and for the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya UPC, in charge of the various programes related to energy saving. He has also worked as a consultant on this subject for several companies.He has a long history of voluntary work for various NGOs in different spheres of activity children, the elderly, underprivileged groups, the handicapped, immigration, international co-operation, etc. He was a founder of the Casal dels Infants del Raval and of the organization Recollim linked to Cáritas.He has authored or coauthored several books: Vivir solidariamente 2002;Lideres para el cambio social 2009; Transformar con éxito las ONG 2010;Liderazgo orientado a resultados en las ONG 2011; Innovar para le cambio social 2012; Colaboraciones efectivas en las ONG 2013; Eficiencia para el impacto social 2014; Colaboraciones ONG y empresa que transforman la sociedad 2015; Transformación digital en el tercer sector 2017, 'ONG de Conocimiento. Influenciar para el impacto social' 2018; 'Hacia donde va el liderazgo social' 2019, several book chapters 'Los nuevos retos de la lucha contra la pobreza', 'El compromiso con los otros', 'Vidas en claves solidarias', 'Comercio justo, consumo responsable' and articles for the media and other publications.He was born in Barcelona in 1957, is married to Marita Osés and has two children: Tom and Román.
