Biography
Veronica is a sociologist, with an MSc in Social Research and Development, and a PhD
in Environmental Sciences and Technologies (University of Barcelona). Her first professional
experience was in the resource industry in Chile for almost eight years. There, she
participated and led change management and organizational development projects at
both local and corporate level.
After this first-hand experience, she decided to come back to academy and understand
how businesses can become more sustainable. She started researching eco-innovations,
corporate social responsibility, community relations and territorial governance. Her
PhD discussed how large scale mining productions mode, socio-environmental impacts
and corporate social responsibility initiatives, all together, shape a "mining space".
She then began her career as an academic, at the Adolfo Ibañez University Business
School. She taught non-market strategies and started her research on B Corporations
and regenerative businesses. She also became Director of the business sustainability
specialty in the Master's in Strategy, and commenced teaching on the subject of sustainable
business models.
Several years later, Veronica decided to return to Barcelona. She did a one-year academic
visit at the ICTA (Environmental Sciences and Technologies Institute), UAB, to explore
the potential synergies between regenerative business and postgrowth. Additionally,
she became a member of the Board of B Academics, a global network which promotes teaching
and research on B Corporations. As Chair of Global Outreach and Engagement, she is
co-leading the first global experience of Local B Academics in Spain. Veronica is
also a member of SEKN (Social Enterprise Knowledge Network), an Iberoamerican Business
Schools network which develops teaching cases and research on social enterprises.
She currently co-leads the SEKN's research project on regenerative business. At present,
Veronica is a postdoc at ESADE, collaborating in a research project on regenerative
agriculture in Spain.
