Biography
Silvia Romboli holds an undergraduate degree in Law 2011 from Università di Pisa Italy
and a PhD cum laude in 'Constitutional Law' from Universidad de Sevilla and in 'Constitutional
Justice and the Protection of Fundamental Rights' from Università di Pisa 2017 with
a thesis on safeguarding fundamental rights through the appropriate control of laws
and their constitutionality. Her thesis directors were Dr. Javier Pérez Royo and Dr.
Paolo Passaglia. Her primary lines of research are related to constitutional justice,
the comparative protection of fundamental rights especially those of minorities and
at-risk groups and areas of supranational law that are directly related to classic
Constitutional Law issues sources of Law, national sovereignty and multilevel protection
of rights. She served as a researcher and professor for the Department of Constitutional
Law at Universidad de Sevilla 2012-2016, a visiting researcher at the Institut de
Recherche en Droit Internacional et Européen de la Sorbone IREDIES within the Ecole
de Droit de la Université Paris 1 Pantheón-Sorbonne in France 2014, at the UMR Centre
of Constitutional Law Unité Mixte de Recherche de droit comparé de Paris, Centre de
recherche en droit constitutionnel within the Ecole de Droit, Université Paris 1 Panteón-Sorbonne
in France 2015 and 2016 and for the Department of Constitutional Law at the Università
di Pisa 2015 and 2016. From November 2016 to January 2018, she also worked for the
Constitutional Court's Doctrine Service, financed via an educational scholarship related
to constitutional doctrine. She has authored several book chapters and articles published
in national and international journals and has participated in numerous research projects
funded at the European, national and Autonomous Community levels. She serves as the
coordinator for the Italo-Spanish Seminar financed by the European Union as a 'Jean
Monnet Project'. She has also been invited to speak and lead seminars both nationally
and abroad.
