Biography
He was Manager of the Institute of Catalan Studies IEC from March 1998 to May 2003, with full responsibility for the management of the institution's resources and, by virtue of his position, he was a trustee of two foundations linked to the IEC: the Mercè Rodoreda Foundation and the Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Foundation.From January 1995 to March 1998 he ran his own company, JVS Consultors, dedicated to consulting and training. During this period, he carried out the functions of Director of the Department of Training and Business Consulting DFCE and Co-ordinator of the commercial promotion activities and external relations of the EMI Foundation-Institute of Business Studies. From March 1992 to January 1995 he performed the functions of Director Manager of the Business Unit of the Advanced Technology School EST of the Catalan Institute of Technology ICT.From December 1990 to March 1992 he was Commercial Director of the Industrial Division of Impex Química, SA Ricorvi, SA, a company dedicated to importing and selling chemical products. From January 1989 to December 1990 he was the Representative for Catalonia, Aragon and the Balearics of Hucoa-Erlöss, SA, a company dedicated to importing and selling technical and scientific equipment for research and control laboratories, and industrial process control.From October 1976 to January 1989 he was a full-time Assistant, Substitute Assistant and Full University Lecturer of the Universidad de Barcelona. He taught on seminars, practical classes and undergraduate and doctoral courses, and he ran and participated in research programmes and studies. Since 1989, he has been on voluntary leave.From October 1981 to December 1982, and from June to September 1983, he was a full-time Associate Researcher at the University of Sussex England. He participated in research programmes. For these post-doctoral stays in England, he was awarded a grant for the training of research staff abroad Ministry of Education and Science and, subsequently, a grant from the Caja de Ahorros y Monte de Piedad de Barcelona to broaden his studies abroad. Since 2003, he has been a Lecturer in ESADE's Department of Business Policy.
