Fostering diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) can be complicated but working with people who have different backgrounds and experiences is not only
the right thing to do – it is also the smart thing to do. Diversity pays off.
This program helps you to become a more inclusive leader by using your own experiences as a lens through which to examine the power of diversity and address its challenges.
You will learn to understand DEI better by diving into the underlying psychological processes, and to consider the impact of DEI in the corporate world. You will explore how to create spaces for your teams to achieve their full potential and look at the benefits of this for yourself as a leader.
The program includes experiential and reflective activities on how to apply what you learn in your own professional life. It will give you the opportunity to assess your own biases and judgements, reflect on their consequences, and work on a personal plan to manage diversity more effectively.
The program reviews science based concepts, strategies and tools that managers may use and decisions they need to make, to bring out the best from the human potential available in the organisation. The program will reinforce the important role that managers play in designing and implementing a psychological safe space from an organisational, group and individual level.

This program has the following learning objectives:
- To acquire a body of knowledge, frameworks, and tools specific to diversity management and inclusion in organizations.
- To identify DEI-related information and apply appropriate analytical tools to understand it.
- To enhance personal and interpersonal skills to effectively manage diversity and inclusion in groups and organizations.
- To understand the role that leaders play in helping diverse teams reach their full potential.
- To understand the aspects of your identity and personal background that shape how you interact and engage with others in diverse social settings.
- To explore how own biases, preferences and assumptions may have an impact on everyday behavior.
- To think critically and analytically about diversity, inclusion, stereotyping and opportunity in organizations.
- To analyze and evaluate diversity management at an individual and organizational level and understand how to improve it.
Methodology
This highly interactive program includes small group exchanges and discussions, “live” cases and guest speakers who will share their knowledge and experiences regarding diversity, equity and inclusion concepts, strategies and solutions.
The program design draws from the concept of experiential learning, which states that deep learning happens through a four-phase cycle:
(1) experience, (2) reflection, (3) abstraction and (4) action
Stage 1. Experience. Learn from “hands-on” experience and real-life situations. Engage in meaningful conversations with people who suffer from prejudices on a daily basis as a basis of exploring your own biases and do’s and don’ts as a manager.
Stage 2. Reflection. Step back from your experiences and reflect on why diversity is a difficult skill to master as well as recognizing the deeper meaning that underlies DEI in the workplace.
Step 3. Abstraction. Develop a general idea of DEI management at work and in society. Acquire the newest state-of-the-art knowledge and best practices from cutting- edge research on leadership styles, motivational theories and DEI related concepts. Discuss the business case for diversity and gain new insights on how DEI is managed at present, plus the road ahead.
Step 4. Action. Finish your learning journey by engaging with live case studies written by people who experience prejudices or exclusion in the workplace, finding new ways to address DEI challenges in your team and organization, and writing a personal D&I action plan to be ready to be a changemaker.
This effective four-step process aims to enhance your sensitivity to people’s feelings and develop your emotional and social skills to become an inclusive and effective leader.

Making a difference
Three aspects make this program truly unique:
1. Moving Stories: conversations that matter
We are proud to work with the Moving Stories organization. This partnership gives you the opportunity to feel and experience the importance of diversity, inclusion and equity, discover the potential and diversity that is already in your organization and provide tools and knowledge to successfully go into action mode and based on scientific knowledge, create lasting impact. At the basis of Moving Stories lies the engagement with people - Moving Stories - who experience prejudice and stereotyping based on the way they look, their beliefs, their past or profession; because they are persons with functional diversity or have health issues; or simply because of how they (choose or have to) live their life.
Conversations on difficult or sensitive topics related to diversity are often avoided or handled ineffectively. By meeting people affected by these issues, as well as by looking at case studies and reflecting with the people who wrote them, you will develop an enriched definition of diversity and become a more empathetic leader.
2. Guest speakers and lectures
Each experiential method and activity is embedded in a theoretical and/or evidence based framework, to ensure the best possible learning experience.
In addition to the diverse Moving Stories collaborators who will share their experiences and perspectives with you, we will also welcome expert guest speakers to cover some of the topics that fit into the program’s theoretical foundation.
3. Self-assessments and case studies
Self-assessments will guide your personal development and allow you to explore various aspects of the program in more detail.
Considering them collectively will enhance your learning experience.
Case studies written by people who experience prejudice in business contexts are valuable teaching tools in the program and serve as the basis for analyzing various managerial issues.
