Six professors with wealth of international experience welcomed aboard. Contracting foreign faculty members is "strategic" for a business school such as ESADE "to continue as an international benchmark", said Academic Vice-Dean Manuel Peiró. What's more, the research background and potential of the latest appointments further enhances the need to be at the forefront of "high-quality and cutting-edge education on a global level", vouched Peiró.
Joining the ESADE faculty are:
Jan Brinckmann — Department of Business Policy Following stints at Loyola University Chicago, Stanford University and Technische Universität Berlin, this German professor has joined the ESADE ranks. His fields of interest include entrepreneurship and business internationalisation.
Petya Platikanova — Department of Financial Management and Control Bulgarian-born Petya Platikanova specialises in accountancy and her research interests examine the capital market effects of accounting disclosure. Her findings have been published in a range of world-leading financial journals.
Ioana Schiopu — Department of Economics Originally from Romania, Ioana is a macroeconomist specializing in growth theory and public finance. Her research interests include the effects of education policies on growth and welfare, as well as the relationship between technological change and investment in education. She obtained her Ph.D. in Economics from Indiana University at Bloomington.
Nicola Pless — Department of Social Sciences Born in Germany and educated at INSEAD and at the University of St. Gallen, Nicola Pless has a wealth of practical experience. She is a former Vice President with a global career in IHRM and has also worked for the World Bank Group. She is know as being one of the leading experts in Responsible Global Leadership and has published two books and several articles in practioner and academic journals.
Calin Arcalean — Department of Economics Hailing from Romania, Calin has a Ph.D. in Economics from Indiana University and specializes in international macroeconomics and public economics. In his research, he analyzes the optimal fiscal policies in integrated economies as well as topics in regional economic growth.
Jaime Bonache — Department of Human Resources Management Widely recognised as one of Europe's leading authorities on human resources, he has published four books, two of which have been best-sellers in a number of countries. Coming to ESADE from the Cranfield School of Management (UK), he has already built up an extensive CV outside Spain.
