The ESADE Alumni Lleida Club invites you to the lecture "Structure for knowledge, knowledge for decisions" by Xavier Gimbert (MBA 86 / PhD 07), Director of the Department of Business Policy.
The world today is a place as global as it is turbulent, in addition to suffering a prolonged crisis. This demands that business owners and executives change their concept of strategy. To do so they have to develop a significant capacity for thinking structurally, for which purpose strategic models become ever more relevant.
The lecture will illustrate the need for a structured outlook and changes to strategic thought, and it will set out a way of undertaking this according to Xavier Gimbert’s most recent strategic model. In discussing which he will draw on his recent articles and books such as Pensar estratégicamente. Modelos, conceptos y reflexiones and Think Strategically (Palgrave Macmillan, 2011).
Xavier Gimbert
He has extensive experience as a company consultant, advising on management and strategic analysis issues, as well as participating in strategic thinking processes. He also has a range of experience as a member of a number of Boards of Directors.
He teaches at ESADE, on the MBA programmes, Executive programmes and In-Company Training programmes (of which he was Director for four years). He has been a Visiting Scholar at the Kelley Business School at Indiana University, a lecturer for the European Commission Programme of Community aid to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe (Phare), at the Instituto Empresarial Portuense (Portuense Business Institute, Oporto, Portugal), the Faculdade Católica de Administração e Economia (Faculty of Administration and Economics, FAE, Curitiba, Brasil) and the UCA Managua (Universidad Centroamericana, Nicaragua).
Prior to joining ESADE in 1989, he worked for eight years in the pharmaceutical industry, and four in the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona.
He regularly writes articles for the Spanish and Argentinian press.
