29/03/2011  -  The III International Congress on Dependence and Quality of Life, entitled ‘Looking to the Future’, was held on Tuesday 29th March 2011 in Madrid’s Palacio de Congresos.

Professor Tamyko Ysa, from the ESADE Institute of Public Governance and Management, participated as speaker in the thematic module ‘Public sector and private initiative collaboration’, along with Jean Claude Brdenk, CEO of Groupe Orpea (France) and Josep Lluís Giménez, CEO of Abertis (motorways in Spain). All speakers emphasised the importance of public-private partnerships within the current context of the public health sector.

28/02/2011 -  On 28th February 2011, the Institute of Public Governance and Management (IGDP) hosted a session entitled “Communication Management in the Public Sector: A Leadership Tool”.

The invited speakers were Lluís Recoder, Minister of Planning and Sustainability of the Catalan Government, and Odón Elorza, Mayor of Donostia–San Sebastián. The topic of discussion was the current role of communication in the public administration.

The debate highlighted the importance of developing two elements – corporate image and project-associated discourse – in order to achieve excellent public communication.

19/01/2011  -  Francisco Longo, Director of ESADE’s Institute of Public Governance and Management (IGDP), and Albert Serra, Director of ESADE’s Executive Master in Public Administration (EMPA), recently participated in the founding ceremony of the Baix Llobregat Social Services Committee, an initiative of the Baix Llobregat Regional Council.

Representing 30 different municipalities, the Baix Llobregat Social Services Committee is dedicated to the regional integration of social services as a means of addressing new challenges in this field: the accelerated growth process, a new social-services law in Catalonia, and the technical/professional inadequacy stemming from the sector’s low level of development.
