General objectives of the PhD programme

The academic objectives of the programme involve participants acquiring the following skills:

. Solid, comprehensive, specialised and multidisciplinary knowledge for an in-depth, scientific exploration of areas that make up the PhD programme.
. Development of the research practices and skills that will enable participating students to embark upon a career in the field of teaching and research, or intellectually demanding jobs in the legal profession.

. Developing the skills required by a scientific researcher:: a high level of competence in research methods, the development of abstract, analytical and critical thought, the identification of knowledge gaps, and methodology for structuring research results.
. Reinforcing the skills needed to improve oral and written communication.
Specific objectives of the PhD programme
. To learn to conceive, plan and carry out scientific research, with the help of an academic tutor and within the context of a process of acquiring autonomy.
.To design original, comprehensive research by applying the rules learned in relation with scientific methodology. Moreover, this research must develop specialised knowledge acquired in the PhD courses and express the student's own critical, personal view.
