ESADE and Obra Social Fundación "la Caixa" team up to promote economic globalisation research
Obra Social Fundación "la Caixa" has become a founding sponsor of the ESADE Center for Global Economy and Geopolitics (ESADEgeo), chaired by Javier Solana
Barcelona, 31st March 2011 — With the common goal of promoting research into economic globalisation and geopolitics, ESADE has signed a collaboration agreement with Obra Social Fundación "la Caixa". Through the agreement, the financial institution will allocate an annual contribution of 100,000 euros to ESADEgeo for two years, with the possibility of its automatic renewal for further two-year periods.
During the event held yesterday at ESADE in Barcelona, the Director General of ESADE, Eugenia Bieto, welcomed the initiative of Fundación "la Caixa" and praised "both institutions’ common commitment to knowledge as a key element for social and commercial development in an increasingly globalised and changing world".
ESADEgeo President, Javier Solana, stressed: "The success or failure of businesses is increasingly dependent on their understanding of and adapting to the dynamics of geopolitics and global economics". For his part, the General Director of Fundación "la Caixa", Jaume Lanaspa, pointed out: "In the current globalisation context, and now more so than ever before, we should join efforts and work together to contribute to the development of society and social welfare".
This collaboration between "la Caixa" and ESADE is one more step in a long journey involving a close relationship and common involvement in training and knowledge programmes. "la Caixa", a member of the ESADE Assembly of Trustees since 1985, has made various contributions to ESADE in specific areas such as the Institute for Social Innovation (2002), the Brand Centre (2006-2007) and the ESADE Guíame portal through e-laCaixa, amongst others.
