Researchers from ESADE and Georgetown Meet in Washington to Launch Global Management Research Initiative (GMRI)

The GMRI, the result of a strategic alliance between ESADE and Georgetown, is a cutting-edge research initiative aimed at furthering understanding of global management challenges

Washington, October 24, 2011 - The Global Management Research Initiative (GMRI), a joint ESADE-Georgetown project involving the McDonough School of Business and the Walsh School of Foreign Service, brought together researchers from both institutions as part of the GMRI’s inaugural workshop in Washington.

The objective of this gathering – whose second edition will be held at ESADE Barcelona next year – was to "facilitate contact between researchers from all three schools, identify research synergies in the global management field, and define an action plan for this initial stage of the project", according to Xavier Mendoza, Associate Professor in the Department of Business Policy and the academic coordinator of the GMRI on behalf of ESADE.

"Collaboration on research is the natural next step in the growing level of cooperation between the three schools, and it strengthens the many existing links between them, such as the joint Executive Education programmes – the Global Executive MBA and the Global AMP – and the exchange agreements with the undergraduate business programme and the MBA," said Alfons Sauquet, Dean of ESADE Business School.

"The Global Management Research Initiative involves a series of activities linked to creating and spreading knowledge," added Dr. Mendoza. "These include joint research projects and the publication of results in academic or executive-oriented journals, the participation of Georgetown faculty in ESADE’s doctoral programme, and the organisation of an annual meeting."

The GMRI’s activities are generously supported by the Werfen Group, a healthcare group with a presence in 24 countries and product distribution in more than 80.
